5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does โ€” in programs, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to childrenโ€™s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life โ€” in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions โ€” her or his rights are violated. There is growing evidence that investing in the health, education and protection of a societyโ€™s most disadvantaged citizens โ€” addressing inequity โ€” not only will give all children the opportunity to fulfill their potential but also will lead to sustained growth and stability of countries. This is why the focus on equity is so vital. It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children, which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, while also supporting the equitable development of nations.

Job organizational context:ย UNICEF in the State of Palestine works to uphold the rights of children toย access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence.ย Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the Westย Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance,ย has an equal chance to fulfil their potential.ย UNICEF aim to significantly increase mobilization of supplies, which requires aย rapid scale-up in logistics operations on the ground. A robust informationย management system will be essential to enhance control and visibility overย supply and logistics operations.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Supply and Logistics, and in closeย collaboration with supply and logistics operations in Gaza, this role supportsย the monitoring of performance measurements and management results withinย the UNICEF supply chain. This includes ensuring accurate and cohesiveย methodologies and calculations, actively monitoring key supply chainย segments, and contributing to the provision of required statutory reports and statistics. The role also ensures data accuracy for supply and logistics results through the coordination of inputs, validation of information, and the use ofย consistent and documented working approaches and tools.

Purpose for the job: Under the supervision of the Chief of Supply the Information Managment Officer will undertake the following functions:ย

Prepare the Procurement status reports including the sales orders statusย summaries, required actions and key messages for supply and logisticsย management. Coordination of inputs and validation of information to ensure consistency inย reporting. Preparation of data, analysis and intelligence to support activities likeย programme supply demand planning. Availability of relevant reports through provision of information and analysisย based on supply chain data by working with relevant team members and/orย generating the information and analysis via available tools and data sources,ย such as UNICEFโ€™s ERP. Maintain the SoP Supply Plan, ensuring its accurate reflection on the SoPย emergency dashboard. Facilitating the generation of effective key messagesย and summaries. Any other duty might be required by the supervisor.

UNICEFโ€™s Core Values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust and Accountability and Sustainability (CRITAS) underpin everything we do and how we do it.
