About the Leaving Violence Program

54 reasons is proudly part of the delivery of the new Leaving Violence Program, a nationally funded initiative by the Australian Government. The Program supports victim survivors who plan to leave or have left a violent intimate partner relationship by providing individualised financial support packages, as well as safety supports through risk assessments, safety planning and referral support.

The service operates Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (local time) across all Australian states and territories, excluding national public holidays. This nationwide structure ensures comprehensive coverage across all time zones.

Whatโ€™s the opportunity?

Weโ€™re seeking Individual Support Workers who will provide up to 12 weeks of intensive, tailored, and trauma-informed support to victim-survivors. Your work will focus on assisting and empowering individuals with practical and emotional support to achieve their personal goals including maintaining their safety from harm, and ensuring financial stability through a person-centred, strengths-based approach.

About the role

Youโ€™ll work closely with victim-survivors to provide ongoing, structured support, ensuring their needs are met through holistic case management.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Tailored support and goal setting

Use the SCORE framework to help victim-survivors of intimate partner violence set goals, establish objectives, and develop structured action plans that support their safety Provide ongoing emotional and practical support, ensuring victim-survivors feel validated and empowered with options to make informed decisions that enhance their safety Apply Motivational Interviewing techniques to foster autonomy and collaboration in decision-making

Financial guidance and assistance

Assist victim-survivors in the understanding and management of their financial support packages through basic financial guidance Work with individuals to determine the most appropriate payment methods (cash or pre-paid cards) that are part of their individualised package and based on their needs and safety considerations Verify bank details, confirm payment schedules, and ensure financial support provided aligns with their leaving intimate partner violence safety plan

Risk monitoring and ongoing assessment

Conduct continuous risk and needs assessments to ensure support remains responsive and effective throughout the 12-week period, recognising the dynamic and changing nature of risk specific to experiences of FDSV Revise safety plans as necessary to maintain relevance and effectiveness based on evolving circumstances Identify and escalate situations identified to be high-risk and where additional intervention is required

Referral and coordination of services

Provide appropriate external referrals to specialist legal, housing, and financial support services to ensure individuals have access to comprehensive resources that support their recovery journey Work closely with internal teams, Team Leaders and Clinical Practice Leads to ensure service quality and alignment with best practice, trauma-informed approaches Support victim-survivors in navigating service pathways and connecting with individual support networks where needed, including government and non-government agencies and programs as part of a โ€œno wrong doorโ€ response

About you

To succeed in this role, you will need to meet the following:

Qualifications and accreditations required

3 year Bachelorโ€™s Degree level qualification in a relevant field as a minimum (if qualifications were obtained overseas, formal verification within Australia is required) Eligibility for registration with AHPRA, ACA, PACFA or AASW

Experience

Three years of experience in risk and needs assessment, safety planning, and trauma-informed support specific to FDSV Proven experience in providing culturally responsive support and communication, ensuring services are inclusive, respectful, and accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities Experience in payments and fraud prevention is desirable
