Introduction
Country: Abuja, Nigeria
Description of the Assignment: The Consultant for Inclusive Growth and Youth Development will play a pivotal role in advancing these efforts by designing, implementing, and scaling programs that promote youth-led entrepreneurship, enhance employable skills, and foster economic inclusion in alignment with the AfCFTA framework and broader SDG agenda. This position will also focus on building partnerships with government institutions, the private sector, and civil society to address systemic challenges and unlock opportunities for sustainable youth engagement in the economy.
With UNDP Nigeria intensifying its efforts to promote youth inclusion and harness the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Consultant is critical to achieving these objectives. The Consultant will lead and support the implementation of initiatives aimed at empowering young Nigerians through employable skills development, youth-led entrepreneurship, and increased participation in regional trade under the AfCFTA framework.
Additionally, the Consultant will play a pivotal role in strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector actors, and civil society, to address systemic barriers to youth economic empowerment. This includes supporting policy alignment with AfCFTA protocols, fostering innovative financing solutions, and scaling impactful programs that enhance access to markets and finance for youth-led enterprises. The role also includes ensuring that UNDP's youth-focused initiatives contribute to the broader goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Nigeria's National Development Plan.
