Work LocationVienna HQ Expected duration15 May-8 August 2025 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Individual Contractor will be based in the Strategic Planning and Inter-Agency Affairs Unit (SPIA), situated in the Policy Analysis Branch of the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA/PAB). SPIA oversees the alignment of all programmes with the UNODC Strategic Framework and supports the development and application of unified planning, monitoring and reporting systems and procedures with the aim to improve results-based management, institutional coherence, effectiveness and performance. The Unit has the responsibility for four main policy and operational responses: a) the development of corporate Strategies and Annual Programme Plans, along with their monitoring and reporting; b) the lead in developing and overseeing the Officeโs results-based management frameworks, standards and procedures for programming purposes; c) the coordination with other United Nations agencies and international organizations for system-wide initiatives and reports, as well as promotion of issues related to countering drugs, crime and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations; and d) mainstreaming of the cross-cutting issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals, youth empowerment and urban safety. Under the direct supervision of the Officer in Charge of the Strategic Planning and Inter-Agency Affairs Unit, and in collaboration and coordination with the other team members of the Unit, the Individual Contractor will undertake the following tasks: 1. Support the Officer in Charge of the Unit with preparing senior managers for their participation in various events and meetings. Qualifications/special skillsHigh school diploma or equivalent is required. At least two years of professional experience in programme/project management, communication, journalism, inter-agency affairs or external relations is required. Previous experience within the United Nations System and/or coordination-related activities at the international level is required. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required. Excellent knowledge of graphic design and image editing tools, including Canva and GIMP is required. Knowledge and understanding of RBM, Excellent coordination skills, and familiarity with the work of UNODC is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
