ContextUNICEF Sudan operates in challenging environments to reach the most disadvantaged children. The HR Assistant UN Volunteer will support the HR team in strengthening recruitment, onboarding, and general HR administration. This assignment provides an opportunity to contribute to the critical operational function of UNICEF, ensuring timely support to program delivery and staff management. Scope of work: Under the general supervision of the Chief of Human Resources based in Port Sudan, the HR Assistant Specialist will: โข Support recruitment processes, including drafting and posting job announcements, screening applications, coordinating interviews, and maintaining candidate communications. โข Assist in onboarding new staff, including preparing contracts, induction materials, and coordinating orientation logistics. โข Maintain HR records and filing systems, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with UNICEF procedures. โข Support HR reporting and data management tasks, preparing routine HR reports and assisting with HR dashboards. โข Participate in HR projects or initiatives as assigned by the supervisor. โข Promote volunteerism and contribute to UNV activities when appropriate.
Task DescriptionWithin delegated authority and under supervision, the HR Assistant Specialist will: 1. Recruitment Assistance: o Draft and post vacancy announcements on relevant platforms. o Screen applications and maintain candidate tracking. o Coordinate interview schedules and communicate with applicants. o Support preparation of recruitment documentation. 2. Onboarding & HR Administration: o Assist with contracts, HR onboarding documentation, and induction sessions. o Maintain personnel records and filing systems accurately. o Support HR data management and reporting. 3. Additional Responsibilities: o Any other related HR tasks as required by the supervisor. o Promote UN Volunteer programme mandate and volunteer engagement where possible. Expected results/outputs: โข Efficient and timely recruitment support provided. โข New staff onboarded with complete and accurate induction materials. โข HR records maintained systematically. โข HR reporting and dashboards updated and accurate. โข Contribution to UNV volunteer activities documented.

Living conditions and remarksPort Sudan is on the Red Sea coast, with an international airport and road access to other parts of Sudan. Living conditions include reliable electricity and water, internet availability, and local health facilities. The duty station requires flexibility and adaptation to a multicultural environment, including periods of high heat and occasional health risks. Housing and living arrangements are the responsibility of the volunteer.
