The Housing Assistant works with the Housing Specialist to ensure a coordinated client-centered delivery of housing services and educate and empower clients to understand and navigate the local housing system. Support logistics and facilitation of housing setups and facilitate Cultural Orientation sessions and workshops to inform clients about rental housing expectations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

โ€ข Collaborate closely with direct service staff to ensure coordinated and client-centered delivery of housing services, maintaining clear communication across programs to meet client housing needs effectively.
โ€ข Educate and empower clients to understand and navigate the local housing system, including lease agreements, tenant rights and responsibilities, communication with landlords, and housing program requirements.
โ€ข Coordinate client home repair requests and provide ongoing maintenance education to help clients maintain safe and stable housing.
โ€ข Support the logistics and facilitation of housing setups, including utility installation, furniture delivery, and home safety inspections, under the supervision of the Housing Specialist.
โ€ข Facilitate Cultural Orientation sessions and housing workshops to inform clients about rental housing expectations, budgeting for rent and utilities, and strategies for successful tenancy.
โ€ข Use a personal, insured vehicle to travel and transport clients or materials as needed throughout the service delivery area. Mileage reimbursement provided.
โ€ข Assist with documentation and data entry to ensure timely and accurate recordkeeping in accordance with program and funder requirements.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to a collaborative, client-centered team environment.

Job Requirements:

Education:
โ€ข High school diploma or GED preferred.
โ€ข University degree a plus.

Work Experience:
โ€ข Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience required either non-profit, housing, or customer service-related industry.
โ€ข Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred.

โ€ข Valid driverโ€™s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:
โ€ข A combination of standard office environment, and โ€˜fieldโ€™ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
โ€ข May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: (Pay Range: $17.40 - $18.00) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
