Mission and objectivesUNDP is the UN’s global development network, an organization that advocates for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help build resilient nations and improve the livelihoods of people. UNDP Gambia was established in 1975 as a development partner to provide technical assistance through advice, access to its global knowledge networks and financial support to implement government development frameworks to boost capacity development and promote national efforts to eradicate poverty and attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In The Gambia, UNDP supports national efforts for sustainable human development in line with the Gambian National Development Plan (NDP) 2018 – 2021 which is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development/SDGs and the African Union Agenda 2063. To deliver on its mandate, UNDP partners with key government institutions and employs different means of actions including institutional capacity strengthening, harnessing strategic linkages, support to evidence-based policy formulation, planning and implementation, resource mobilization, support to national planning processes and mainstreaming of relevant issues.

ContextIn 2025, the United Nations marks 80 years of global service, commemorated annually on 24 October as UN Day. This milestone offers a moment to reflect on the UN’s achievements, challenges, and continued relevance in addressing global and national priorities. It follows the 2024 Summit of the Future, where Member States endorsed the Pact for the Future, the Declaration on Future Generations, and the Global Digital Compact which reaffirms multilateralism as key to tackling climate change, conflict, pandemics, and technological disruption.

Task DescriptionUNDP is seeking the support of four 4 Online Volunteers - with expertise in graphic design/art to support the UNDP communications Analyst create its communication materials, specifically for the upcoming UN Day commemorative events in The Gambia. The graphics will include those for the pre-event, during the event day and post-event with some actionable insights. The Online Volunteers are expected to work under the supervision of communications focal point from UNDP by carrying out the following tasks: - Create content following the suggestions and design recommendations of team members - Make meaningful design suggestions that improve the overall product (e.g. poster or infographic) - Create clean-cut and original designs for the organization on the website, blog, and social media - The number of graphic designs will be determined by supervisor. At the end of the assignment, a certificate of appreciation will be issued from UNV. Expected Outcome: • Visually pleasing infographics to help spread awareness about the dialogue session • Teamwork and collaboration with the social media management online volunteers
