What we are looking for:
NRC is looking for a Grants Specialist to strengthen our grants management and proposal development function. Youโll assist Head Office Departments, Country Offices and Representation Offices to secure and manage grant funding from a strong portfolio of institutional and private donors. In addition, the successful candidate will manage a proposal consultancy roster, ensure donor compliance, and deliver high-quality reporting. Youโll also build capacity through training on Project Cycle Management and strengthen business development efforts at both global and country levels.
Weโre seeking someone with strong experience in the narrative processes of grants management such as proposal development, narrative reporting and running stakeholder meetings. Experience with international donors such as the LEGO Foundation, German, or Swiss donors is a plus, along with a track record of supporting global or regional roles across diverse teams.
What you will do:
Here are some of your generic responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality funding proposals and concept notes in line with NRCโs strategy, while monitoring global donor trends, compliance standards, and funding opportunities.
Ensure compliance with NRCโs Project Cycle Management (PCM) Framework, facilitating key PCM activities (go/no-go, proposal planning, grants opening/review/closing, revisions, and partner inclusion).
Build strong collaborations with Representation Offices, Head Office departments, and other stakeholders to support the full project cycle from proposal development to implementation, reporting, and closure.
Work with Finance and other global teams to ensure donor budgets align with NRC needs, systems, monitor financial issues, and support budget revisions where needed.
Provide training and capacity building for programme and support staff on grants management, donor rules, proposal/report writing, and PCM, in coordination with global grants teams.
Coordinate timely and high-quality inputs across the portfolio, including donor contracts, reporting, payment schedules, and negotiations in line with NRC policies.
Act as a helpdesk on donor rules, compliance, proposal/report writing, and funding mechanisms, offering guidance to internal teams.
Manage NRCโs pool of pre-qualified proposal-writing consultants, including selection, deployment, and performance feedback.
Maintain oversight of all grants in the allocated portfolio, ensuring accurate data in NRC systems, analysing trends, and contributing to donor mapping and capacity statements.
Here are some of your specific responsibilities
Provide grants management support to project teams across the project cycle within the delegated portfolio.
Lead grants management for NRCโs internal LEGO Foundationโfunded Emergency Education scheme, coordinating reviews, approvals, proposals, and reporting.
Support business development when required, including concept writing, donor analysis, and fundraising prioritization in collaboration with global and regional teams.
Represent NRC with donors and consortia partners, supporting negotiations, contract reviews, and reporting for multi-country grants.
Contribute to donor contract reviews, flagging compliance risks and supporting negotiations with Legal and Risk & Compliance teams.
Support income forecasting, project monitoring, and budget follow-up with Finance and project managers.
Promote the roll-out and use of NRCโs Cycles system and provide quality assurance for key proposals and reports when needed.
