5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

About FHI 360 and EpiC

FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. Our staff includes experts in health, education, nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research, technology, communication, and social marketingโ€”creating a unique mix of capabilities to address todayโ€™s interrelated development challenges. FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries and all U.S. states and territories.

The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project is an eight-year (2019โ€“2027) global health initiative funded by the Presidentโ€™s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). EpiC operates in more than 60 countries, addressing key public health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, pandemic preparedness, and global health security.

In Papua New Guinea (PNG), EpiC has expanded its efforts to include Global Health Security (GHS) activities since 2023, focusing on strengthening the countryโ€™s health systems to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases, with an emphasis on integrating One Health approaches. This approach recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health in addressing health threats. The EpiC GHS project in PNG is working closely with government and stakeholders across the health, veterinary, and environmental sectors to build the International Health Regulations (IHR) core capacities needed to effectively manage emerging infectious diseases and other health threats.

FHI 360 is recruiting for a Geospatial Information System Specialist (GIS Specialist/Data Analyst):

Job Summary:

The GIS Specialist/Data Analyst will lead the development of geospatial tools and data analysis efforts to support the integration of One Health approaches within the EpiC GHS project in PNG. The role will focus on creating maps and models to visualize the diagnostic network, conducting spatial analysis for
risk categorization, and supporting data management for surveillance and laboratory activities. The specialist will work closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure that geospatial data is effectively utilized to inform decision-making and program strategies.
