POSITION TITLE: Gender and Social Inclusion Director Location: Kathmandu, Nepal UNIT: Agriculture, Resilience & Water Reports to: Chief of Party Feed the Future USAID Agricultural Inputs (USAID Agricultural Inputs) is a new five-year USAID-supported activity in Nepal. The aim of USAID Agricultural Inputs is to increase the availability, accessibility, and use of agricultural inputs and technology to improve Nepalโ€™s agricultural productivity. The activity is implemented by Winrock International in collaboration with five organizations: Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy, Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED), MarketShare Associates (MSA), Pathway Technology, Fertilizer Association Nepal (FAN), and Vikara Institute. USAID Agricultural Inputs will enable lead firms, agrovets, input suppliers, local machinery service providers, and Government of Nepal (GON) change agents and farmers to increase productivity, input supply chain efficiency, market system competitiveness, and strengthen the enabling environment in a way that equitably addresses the needs of women, youth, and members of marginalized groups. USAID Agricultural Inputs will benefit 200,000 farmers in the USAID Feed the Future (FTF) zone of influence. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The GESI Director will lead the operationalization of an evidence-based gender and social inclusion analysis through integration of the resulting action plan throughout activities. The GESI Director will work with staff to build their capacity and understanding of GESI concepts, and work with them to design an implement GESI-sensitive activities. They will also work closely with the MEL Director to design GESI surveys, assessments, and learning questions, analyze results, and report on these findings. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with COP and DCOP to ensure that activities are designed and implemented in accordance with the programโ€™s GESI action plan and address gender- and other inclusion-specific considerations, needs and gaps. Support gender and social inclusion integration in workplans and grant/partnership agreements, as appropriate. Provide technical guidance and oversight to program activities that promote gender transformative approaches resulting in, for example, equitable decision-making, gender pay equity, growth of women- and minority-owned enterprises, improved market inclusion, control over income, leadership, womenโ€™s engagement in on- and off-farm economic opportunities, male engagement and inclusive rules and norms. Lead and/or support the implementation of gender and social inclusion considerations into studies and assessments to identify constraints and opportunities to womenโ€™s empowerment, gender equity, and inclusive development to ensure equitable benefits. In collaboration with technical team and other program staff, support the identification of strategic partners and develop partnerships to pilot and/or scale up innovative approaches to improve gender equity and social inclusion. Collaborate internally and externally to synthesize, share, and apply learning methods that promote gender equity and social inclusion; create greater opportunities for inclusive participation. Support the MEL Director to plan the collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant data, including reporting on all sex-, ethnicity, and age-disaggregated data. Ensure that gender and social inclusion outcomes and impacts (intended and unintended) are captured and reflected on. Help facilitate a culture of CLA by leading gender equity and social inclusion P&R sessions to take stock of progress and learning around gender, social inclusion, and womenโ€™s empowerment approaches. Document and share Represent the program at relevant conferences and stakeholder/donor meetings, as appropriate. Maintain a close working relationship with Winrockโ€™s Senior Gender and Social Inclusion Adviser, embedded within the AGILE Team at the Home Office to share learning, troubleshoot, and gain access to broader resources, tools, and support. Contribute to a safe and equitable workplace, create opportunities, and offer support to women and those from disadvantaged groups. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQURIEMENTS: Education Bachelorโ€™s Degree (or equivalent) in sociology, anthropology, gender or womenโ€™s studies, international development, or another relevant field Required Experience Minimum of ten years of prior work experience in international development (preferably in agriculture), including at least seven years of work experience in gender integration or gender mainstreaming. In-depth knowledge of gender and other social inclusion considerations (constraints and opportunities) in project sector and main actors in the project sector Experience with implementing gender and socially inclusive approaches and tools. Demonstrated experience with qualitative research methods, including leading gender and social inclusion analysis, strategy development, and implementation of gender-sensitive workplans. Demonstrated experience advising on gender- and youth-sensitive MEL activities. Excellent facilitation skills, including proven ability to lead the design and delivery of participatory training and capacity building activities on gender and social inclusion. Language Fluent Nepali is required. Advanced/Professional English is required.
