Terms of ReferenceThis internship is part of a pilot project on Islamic Philanthropy to be carried out in Brazil. This position will work in close collaboration with the Islamic Philanthropy specialist in the Regional Office in the Americas. The incumbent will provide logistical and research-based support in all activities related to the Islamic Philanthropy activities in Brazil. He/she will assist in the organization of several initiatives, consultations, conferences, meetings with partners, including administrative details. The incumbent will also support the development of stronger partnerships with academia, research institutes and Islamic institutions across Brazil in relation to Islamic philanthropy.
The incumbent will have a functional reporting line to the Private Sector Partnerships Officer for Brazil to report on developments, feedback technical support, and appropriate sharing of information, and will liaise with the Senior Partnership & Philanthropy Officer for the Americas to guarantee that local strategy is following the Regional plan for Islamic Phylanthropy in the Region.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Assist PSP Brazil with its Zakat campaign during Ramadan.
• Carry out research on specific topics related to Islamic Philanthropy activities in Brazil.
• Provide support in organizing events, seminars, and meetings.
• Assist with monitoring websites and social media portals for Islamic Philanthropists.
• Help in compilation of material for presentations, conferences, and seminars.
• Draft meeting minutes and reports.
• Support with other tasks as required.
Minimum qualifications required:
• Be a recent graduate (completed studies within one year of applying to this internship) or have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies school program in a relevant field (Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Journalism, Communication or other related fields) from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO;
• Excellent knowledge of Islamic institutions, politics, and culture in Brazil – for this position it is necessary to be part of the Muslim Community in Brazil.
• Background in humanitarian work and political science is preferable.
• Strong Organization Skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
• Computer and IT skills (MS Office, graphics, social media, etc.).
