Mission and objectives Since 3rd November, 2011, ASCOA has been dedicated to improving the awareness of the local community on HIV/AIDS and its related stigma, promoting peace building in the society, fostering environmental protection and the fight against climate change, supporting children, and empowering women and girls in order to improve their socio-economic participation and boost their wellbeing. We envision a world free of HIV/AIDS, where people are neither stigmatized nor discriminated upon due to their HIV status; a world where women are empowered and children are protected; a world where peace reigns and people live in an environment free of pollution and global warming.
ContextASCOA is a non-profit organization leading marine debris and plastic pollution initiatives in Cameroonโs coastal communities. As part of its five-year strategic plan, ASCOA is launching the ASCOA Trash Monitor Appโa digital platform to support data collection, mapping, and reporting of marine debris along the LimbeโIdenau coastline and beyond. The app will empower volunteers, researchers, and the public to track, report, and analyze waste patterns, informing clean-up strategies and policy advocacy. To develop this innovative tool, ASCOA seeks committed UN Volunteers with relevant technical and thematic expertise as software developer.
Task DescriptionWe are looking for one online volunteer to support the software development of the ASCOA Trash Monitor mobile application. Volunteers will help ensure a user-friendly UI/UX, enable location tagging, and support integration with a backend database for real-time waste data collection and upload. Join us in creating a digital solution for environmental impact!
