About the Country Program in Zambia

Action Against Hunger has been operational in Zambia since 2021 implementing both development and humanitarian programmes through a multi-sectoral strategy where Nutrition, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH and Protection, Gender and psychosocial support are integrated to have a meaningful impact on people\u2019s resilience.

Summary of position

As a member of the Action Against Hunger Lusaka, Zambia Team, the Food Security & Livelihoods Coordinator will provide technical and oversight support to the Food Security, Livelihoods, Resilience, Disaster Risk Management interventions, and be part of the broader Food Security & Livelihoods initiatives at the Country, regional and network levels.

ย Purpose:

The Food Security & Livelihoods Coordinator provides technical leadership and operational support to the food security and livelihoods portfolio in the Zambia for improved nutrition security.

Key Activities to be performed.

\u00b7ย Engage with technical and operations teams, country program teams, and counterparts in the Action Against Hunger network to for improved nutrition security.

\u00b7ย Represent Action Against Hunger lusaka, Zambia in relevant internal and regional external fora and working groups.

\u00b7ย Regularly contribute to External Relations (ER)/ communication efforts, press releases and other documentation at regional level

\u00b7ย Facilitate FSL information, experiences and case studies to ER/communications for public communications, website materials at regional level.

\u00b7ย ย Advance Action Against Hunger Lusaka, Zambia FSL advocacy strategy and messages at regional level and country level

ย \u00b7ย Provision of technical support to food security and livelihoods Interventions \u2013 strategy, conceptualization, planning, implementation and reporting.

\u00b7ย Promote and ensure compliance to Action Against Hunger technical guidelines, policies, manuals, position papers and procedures related to Food Security and Livelihoods.

\u00b7ย Promote and ensure compliance of country programs to Action Against Hunger mainstreamed approaches around Social Behavior Change, Disaster Risk Management, Gender and Protection in Food security and Livelihood interventions.

\u00b7ย Ensure secondary analysis of existing or proposed programs to ensure relevance, impact, viability, sustainability and quality of the action.

\u00b7ย Ensure documentation, capitalization and dissemination of program experiences, statistics and lessons learned.

\u00b7ย ย Facilitate the identification of innovation and research opportunities together with the country program team and research team.

\u00b7ย Inform Action Against Hunger lusaka, Zambia\u2019s Regional Strategy and departmental objectives

\u00b7ย ย Identifying and engaging in coordination with AAH-US senior FSL advisors with other agencies &/or partners in FSL in East Africa to ensure up-to-date programming, tools, technical developments and innovations

\u00b7ย Identify funding opportunities for programming at regional level which contribute to Action Against Hunger-lusaka, Zambia\u2019s overall strategy and development

\u00b7ย Advise in the recruitment of FSL technical field practitioners by providing a technical assessment of each candidate's skills & experience

\u00b7ย Advise and inform the development of FSL related JDs for mission technical positions.

\u00b7ย Facilitate briefing/debriefing of FSL technical staff for Action Against Hunger Lusaka, Zambia\u2019s country programs.

Identify the on-going learning and development needs of FSL technical country coordinators, and assist in providing or supporting their professional development.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Master\u2019s degree in food security, Agricultural Education and Extension, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Food Policy and Applied food science, socio politics, or related topics At least ten years\u2019 experience in food systems, nutrition sensitive agriculture, Livelihoods and Resilience. Membership with a relevant professional body

ย Required Skills & Experience

\u00b7ย Experience working in humanitarian and development contexts, recovery and rehabilitation as well as with national governments, regional bodies, UN agencies and INGOs.

\u00b7ย Excellent knowledge of technical fields related to Food Security & Livelihoods that includes excellent working knowledge of food security, Market systems and nutrition sensitive resilience.

\u00b7ย Sound analytical and technical competence in the subject matter of food security and livelihoods

\u00b7ย ย Field experience in FSL programming, including agro ecology, value chain analysis, income generation, emergency food assistance, COD, HEA, etc.

\u00b7ย Strong analytical and writing skills essential.

\u00b7ย Knowledge and experience in assessment and research methods.

\u00b7ย Strong organizational skills and technical review/writing of detailed technical documents.

\u00b7ย Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

\u00b7ย Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

\u00b7ย Capacity to represent the organization in various fora.

\u00b7ย Genuine interest in and commitment to the humanitarian principles of Action Against Hunger
