Under the overall supervision of Resource Management Officer and the direct supervision of Sr. Finance Assistant , the Finance Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus not all inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all Finance Assistants)/

Assist in managing financial resources by monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, funds, supplies, etc. in accordance with IOM rules and regulations; Assist in preparing annual budget submission and revisions including estimating staff cost as well as rental and utilities, office equipment and supplies, printing, and other contracts, services or running expenses, to include in the budget; Extract & input data from various sources in financial or accounting systems; Assists in Analyzing Financial data related to all activities across mission; Assists in financial monitoring of projectsย  Assist in providing guidance in accounting, budget and financial related issues; Assists in implementing office costs projectization & follow up for any related issues Assists in the preparation of IOM Donor Financial reports in accordance with IOM & Donor guidelines, & supports addressing the related comments of RAS & ROย  Assist the Program managers with providing verification of financial expenditure and perform required recoding and allocation in accordance with IOM regulations and established procedures in coordination with RMO and Finance Officer Assist in following up on the timely clearing the projects commitments and reflected in financial reports Assists in issuing the IOM donor invoice Assist in the preparation of the payroll by executing validity checks on monthly payroll results; Performs Review of all types of payments starting from purchases to payment requests verifying that they are duly authorized and all the supporting documents are attached therewith; Verify vendor claims for accuracy and conformance with IOM finance policies and instructions; Perform claim verifications against documentation to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that the goods have been received or services rendered; Assist in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial, statistical reports and other reports as required; Assists in Donor, Internal & External auditsย  Assists in clearing out standing issues relatedย Project Balance Reviews (PBR) Provide assistance to all staff services such as document retrieval, travel ,follow-up commitments Cash payments etc. Ensure proper and systematic completion of all posted payments and other accounting documents according to the established standards; Provide assistance to all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval Support in the Petty Cash of the office in absence of Treasury staff Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications for Internal Candidates ย  ย  Education High school degree/certificate with minimum five years of relevant work experience; or,ย

Excellent communication skills in Englishย  Previous experience in an international, humanitarian/development organization and/or in capacity building initiatives is an advantage. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds and respect for diversity and gender equality. Strong Computer skills especially in MS Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to pay close attention to details and work with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a team of colleagues.ย  Time Management and planning for accounting cycles. Able to set up internal record tracking. Skills In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming. Knowledge of financial rules and regulations. Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). Languages

For this position, fluency in English language is required (oral and written).
