These services include:
โข Financial planning, budget development, and cost centre management.
โข Contracting with donors, implementing partners, and consultants.
โข Procurement, donor reporting, and project audits.
โข Administration and operational workflows to enhance efficiency.
โข Financial systems and process improvements to optimize financial operations across the Secretariat.
The Finance Intern will support the finance team by assisting with administrative and financial tasks related to invoice processing, expense claims, contract management, and financial documentation. This internship provides an opportunity to develop practical financial skills and administrative experience in a dynamic international organization. JOB DESCRIPTION The Finance Intern will assist the finance team in various learning-based tasks related to financial administration, ensuring compliance with financial policies while gaining exposure to financial operations within IUCN.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Support in Financial Administration
Assist in the review and processing of invoices, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Support the preparation and verification of expense claims, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
Help maintain and organize financial records and documentation for easy reference and audit purposes.
Learn how to track and process payment requests and follow up with relevant stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation and processing of Travel Authorizations (TAs), ensuring compliance with internal policies and proper documentation.
2) Assistance with Contract and Procurement Documentation
Help maintain an organized filing system for contracts, agreements, and procurement records.
Support in preparing basic contract summaries and tracking key dates for renewals.
Assist in gathering supporting documentation for procurement approvals and financial reviews.
3) Exposure to Financial Reporting and Compliance
Support the finance team in gathering data for financial reports.
Assist in preparing simple financial reconciliations and tracking expenses.
Learn about financial compliance and internal control processes within IUCN.
4) General Administrative and Learning Support
Help with scanning, organizing, and archiving financial documents.
Assist in scheduling and coordinating finance-related meetings and administrative tasks.
Support the team in ad hoc financial projects, learning about financial workflows and best practices.
Actively participate in training sessions and capacity-building activities to enhance financial knowledge.
5) Perform any other finance-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor, in alignment with the intern's role and learning objectives.
The internship will last 6 months, based in Mรกlaga, Spain.
The intern will work full-time (100%) under a hybrid or office-based model, depending on organizational requirements.
Working hours will follow IUCNโs standard policies. REQUIREMENTS โข Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Other academic backgrounds may also be considered if the candidate demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and develop skills in financial administration. โข Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
โข Basic understanding of financial concepts and administrative processes.
โข Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
โข Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
โข Strong written and verbal communication skills in English or Spanish (French is a plus).
โข A proactive attitude and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. SALARY The minimum gross annual salary for this position is EUR 7'200. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice.
