UNHCR Korea – Administration Team

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a full-time internship with the Administration Team at UNHCR Seoul in the Republic of Korea.

Organizational context

We lead international action to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people.

The Administrative Intern in UNHCR Korea will provide administrative support to the office where the position is located. The intern has no direct supervisory functions though it rests upon the supervisor to make time specific arrangements subject to a given situation. The intern will always function under direct supervision of a Senior Administrative Assistant, who is required to monitor the performance of him/her and provide regular guidance. S/he may liaise with local suppliers on routine subject matters under the direction of the supervisor.

The position
As an administrative intern, he/she supports admin, HR, finance, and IT matters described in the Duties and Responsibilities below. It is desirable that a candidate has an experience in admin area or international and government agencies. Knowledge in English and Korean is recommended.

Duties and responsibilities
• Reception function - respond to calls and visitors, package, and newspaper pick-up, etc.
• Support procuring office supplies and services
• Visit MoFA for delivering and collecting Note Verbale and official invitation
• Organize the archive and storage
• Update staff list regularly
• Assist with in processing Staff laptop return
• Assist Webinar in MS office application
• Translate official documents and materials from Korean to English or vice-versa
• Support UNHCR internal or external events and missions

Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.

NOTE: An individual whose father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister is a staff member of UNHCR, including a Temporary Appointment holder or a member of the Affiliate Workforce, is not eligible for an internship.

Desirable qualifications and skills
• Experience relevant to admin, HR or finance is preferred.
• Experience in international organizations or embassies is preferred.
• Knowledge in English and Korean is recommended.

Conditions
It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9.00am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in UNHCR Korea.

Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
