About this position
FMP works in collaboration with IDB partners to support the Executing Agencies, in the projectโs design, implementation and closure, as well as in their efforts to strengthen their fiduciary systems.
Objective
Support the Procurement Specialist at the IDB in The Bahamas (and other locations) with the procurement supervision of the project portfolio as well as the capacity building effort within the Country Office, Project Executing Units and strengthen the work and dialogue with the Government Authorities in terms of public procurement.
What youโll do
(Main accountabilities that contribute to the team's objectives - don't go into the details)
ยท Provides technical advice in project design and execution on fiduciary related matters including the selection of procurement methods, handling of protests and matters of contention raised by borrowers, bidders and other Bank stakeholders.
ยท Proposes comprehensive solutions to strengthen borrowersโ fiduciary systems using internationally accepted methodologies and evaluate project risks as well as the institutional capacity of the Executing Agencies.
ยท Supports the fiduciary supervision of projects, draw independent conclusions and formulate authoritative recommendations to the borrower and the Bank.
ยท Provides inputs and carry out preventive reviews of Bank operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
ยท Provides technical input for strategic documents, operational documents, and technical guidelines to improve the fiduciary work.
ยท Compiles, organizes, and analyzes, in accordance with applicable techniques and procedures, statistical and qualitative data necessary to prepare technical notes, reports, and documents.
ยท Provides inputs on the fiduciary capacity of executing agencies to carry out projects. Understands the aspects of institutional capacity and public procurement matters covering all government levels.
ยท Supports the preparation of trainings, presentations, and development of innovative tools and strategies that leverage existing resources to create new solutions to existing challenges in procurement.
ยท Advises and mentors Bank staff on all aspects of procurement under the Bankโs procurement framework.
ยท Any other assignments that fall within the scope of the fiduciary procurement duties.
What you'll need
Education: Bachelorโs Degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in public/project or private sector procurement, working in procurement in an international organization, or in projects funded by international organizations is highly desirable.
Languages: You are proficient (oral and written) in English and in, at least, another of the IDBโs official languages (French, Portuguese or Spanish).

Requirements
ยท Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Multiple locations or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Multiple locations.
ยท Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
