In the framework of the situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organization as soon as possible. The action under which the candidates will be selected shall contribute to the provision of targeted care interventions to the unaccompanied children (UMC) residing in Greece. Therefore, IOM will capitalize on its extensive experience on the areas of child protection so as to provide tailored support and interventions to the UMC by offering accommodation and care services in Emergency Accommodation Facilities (EAFs).
Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager and the direct supervision of theย Senior Programme Coordinator/Field Office Coordinator the successful candidate will be responsible for providing daily care to UMC in the assigned accommodation facility.ย ย ย ย
1. Oversee all aspects ofย the UMC living conditions: supervise the maintenance and repair of the assigned facilities and equipment, the nutrition plan, the cleanliness of the premises and the observance of the safety and security conditions.
2. Supervise UMC participation in the daily programs implemented at the assigned facility and organize meetings on a monthly basis in order to receive UMC feedback on their living conditions and the support they receive.ย
3. Ensure the appropriate escort of UMC on a case-by-case basis, in services for personal issues such as health care, educational activities and activities outside the facility.
4. Prepare the monthly shift schedule for supervised staff and oversee its implementation.ย
5. Coordinate the staff employed during the performance of their duties and ensure effective communication and cooperation between the members.ย
6. Schedule individual meetings at regular intervals with all staff occupied at the assigned facility in order to evaluate their actions and individual performance, which are mandatory for all staff members.
7. Supervise the operation of the complaintโs mechanism implemented within the assigned facility.
8. Coordinate volunteers and supervise the provision of their services in cooperation with the other members of the operation team.
9. Supervise the financial and administrative management of the facility, specifically:
- Coordinate the process of supply, registration, storage and distribution of items present in the facility, such as food materials, consumables, personal hygiene items, clothing material
- Coordinate the administrative procedures for the reception, accommodation and departure of UMC from the facility and always in cooperation with the reference person, and
- Coordinate administrative issues arising in the context of cooperation with other services and bodies of the public or private sector.ย
10. Conduct morning or afternoon shifts and be on a rotated manner on an on call readiness for the night shift.ย
11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.ย
Education- University degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in social of humanitarian science with at least two years of certified work experience on the area of child protection and/or reception of asylum applicants and/or the provision of support to vulnerable people. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. ย Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred;
- Previous experience at an IOM Emergency Accommodation Facility will be considered an asset;
- Familiar with direct assistance to migrants and/or refugees preferred;
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment an advantage. Skills
- Computer literacy in standard software applications (MS Office, etc) will be considered an asset;
- Willingness to work in day/night shifts, during holidays and weekends;
- Valid driverโs license with at least five years driving experience an advantage;
- Flexibility and capacity in conflict resolution;
