We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced First Nations leaders to co-chair Save the Childrenโ€™s First Nations Advisory Committee (FNAC). In this role, you youโ€™ll co-steer our First Nations Advisory Committee to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. We envisage this role to be a key strategic appointment in leading Save the Children's approach to reconciliation, creating a culturally safe workplace and providing informed and considered advice on matters impacting First Nations people.

You will make a difference by:

Overseeing and guiding FNACโ€™s work alongside the internal Co-Chair and in alignment with the RAP Leadership Group and broader First Nations Governance structure and set out in a yearly scope of work that is approved by the SCAUS Board.

Supporting the SCAUS Board, SCAUS Group Chief Executive and 54 Reasons Chief Executive to determine the Strategic Priorities (as outlined in section 6 of the FNAC ToR).

Facilitating culturally appropriate, good practice governance to the FNAC and across the broader First Nations Governance Structure.

Rotating responsibility for chairing FNAC meetings.

Working collaboratively to ensure the efficient and effective operation of FNAC including:

Establishing and facilitating a formal advisory committee structure to support effective advisory outcomes, through embedding the new Terms of Reference. This may include:

Establishment of the new advisory committee and broader First Nations governance structure

Facilitation of advisory committee planning and meetings

Contribution to advisory committee outcomes through value-driven and culturally informed insights and advice

A place to feel valued:

You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with a proven track record of leadership experience within the community. You are well versed in understanding and articulating the experiences and issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the wider community, and demonstrate responsibility, reliability and accountability.

This role requires:

Practical and / or theoretical experience delivering on human rights, sustainability, UNCRC, and/or UNDRIP measures within an Australian context, and good practice.

Cultural knowledge, skill and experience to direct the Committee in providing strategic advice to key stakeholders including senior leaders and board executives

Ability to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per month to further the work of the Advisory group
