As the war enters its fourth year, millions of civilians continue to require humanitarian aid, including essentials such as shelter, water, sanitation, hygiene services and basic non-food items. IOM is one of the largest Non-Food items (NFI) actors in Ukraine, serving millions of beneficiaries through numerous distribution modalities in operation across the country.ย
The delivery of IOMโs in-kind assistance is dependent upon field staff who directly interact with beneficiaries and uphold the organizationโs principles at the grassroots level.ย
Under the overall supervision of Chief of Mission and theย Programme Officer (NFI/Common Pipeline), and the direct supervision of Senior Project Associate (NFI), the incumbent will contribute to the successful distribution of in-kind SNFI assistance to populations in need throughout Ukraine, while maintaining accountability and upholding humanitarian principles throughout all stages of the SNFI distribution process.
- Supports the overall IOM SNFI direct implementation in Eastern Region of Ukraine.ย
- Proactively obtain, assess and verify requests for assistance (originating from authorities, partners, clusters and/or beneficiary communities) by conducting rigorous needs assessments and verifications, in accordance with established IOM standards and guidelines
- Assist in coordinating with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders on SNFI needs and the response plan in the Eastern Region,ย adapting the most appropriate distribution modality at the assigned distribution point.ย
- Maintain thorough records regarding expressed needs, assessment findings, verification results and internal communications/requests. Regularly update the appropriate request trackers and distribution databases, while regularly communicating all requested updates to the unitโs reporting and/or Information Management (IM) team.
- Coordinate closely with SNFI Supplies Management focal Point and Supply Chain Unit on SNFI transportation and stock management forย Eastern Region responses.ย
- When requested/relevant, assist colleagues in providing training/workshops internal and external participants.
- When relevant/required, assist colleagues attending IOM in cluster/partner meetings, trainings or other relevant fora.ย
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned. Education
- High School diploma with five years of professional work experience; or,ย
- Bachelorโs degree in Social Sciences or any other relevant field from an accredited academic institution, with at least three years of professional work experience.ย ย Experience
- Experience working in post-conflict/emergency zones and in high-risk environment;ย
- Experience in humanitarian response or related field (operational field experience a must /emergency experience preferred);ย
- Experience in Non-Food Items and Common Pipeline programming in emergency humanitarian response is an advantage;ย
- Experience in emergency, project implementation and management including project monitoring, distribution, field assessment, monitoring and reporting. Skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to coordinate and corresponds in a clear and concise manner;
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner;
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds;
- Good level of computer literacy, including EXCEL, MS WORD, MS TEAMS, OUTLOOK etc.;ย
