Noneย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย Context Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) and direct supervision of the Head of Sub Office and Senior Project Associate (DRU-Operations); the successful candidate will perform the following functions. They will ย support the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of data collection for the Data and Research Unit in the region. The candidate will provide guidance, training, and support to the enumerators, as well as provide logistical support and liaise with the DRU team in Addis Ababa to regularly update on data collections findings or any other related issues. In addition, the candidate will ย participate in relevant meetings, briefings, events and working groups, as well as ensure smooth collaboration with regional authorities.
- Support the implementation of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Flow Monitoring (FM) tools, ย and regular monitoring as per agreed timelines, prepare project status and progress reports;
- Participate in field assessments to gather timely information about displacement, population mobility, movement flows, and any other source of data required;
- Lend ad-hoc short term support to other sub-offices on a needs-basis and in agreement with the DTM team in Addis;
- Coordinate data collection with local partners to ย facilitate harmonized action at the field level;
- Verify the quality of data collected and ย suggest corrective measures as required; ย support quality control and verify consistency of the information being collected;
- In coordination and under overall guidance of the DTM team in Addis, ย draft work plans and activity schedules for data collection, processing and analysis for all areas of agreed upon coverage for each round of the data collection;
- Provide feedback on lessons learned, challenges and recommendations after each round of data collection to ensure that evolving field realities are accounted for in each round of data collection;
- Participate in capacity building sessions both for enumerators and government counterparts to ensure harmonized comprehension of data collection methodology, data collection software (Kobo), questionnaire vocabulary, and data protection standards;
- Liaise with regional authorities to regularly inform on activities and results;
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.ย Education
- School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelorโs degree in Political or Socialย Sciences,ย Information Technology, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science,ย International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.ย Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.ย
- Knowledge of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) tools.ย
- Experience working at the community and individual level in rural and remote areas of Ethiopia.
- Minimum of 3 yearsโ experience working in field level data collection, research, community-based response approaches etc.
- Ability to transfer knowledge and skills on data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Knowledge of Open Data Kit (ODK) and Kobo technology.
- Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)ย
- Experience in recognized institutions on data collection in Ethiopia is an advantage. NGO/INGO experience is a plus.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills.Skills
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
- Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
