Organizational Background
The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria is the international organization setting up the global verification system foreseen under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which is the treaty banning any nuclear-weapon-test explosion or any other nuclear explosion. The Treaty provides for a global verification regime, including a network of 337 facilities worldwide, a communications system, an international data centre and on-site inspections to monitor compliance.
Organizational Setting
This position is located in the Policy Planning and Operations Section, On-Site Inspection Division (OSI).
Reporting Lines
Under the supervision of the Chief, Policy Planning and Operations Section, to:
Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to the preparation, implementation, and review of the OSI Integrated Field Exercise (IFE); Support Headquarters Operations Support Centre (OSC) preparations including updates to documents, hardware and software, staffing, and other tasks as needed; Prepare planning and implementation documents for the IFE as instructed, including scenario-related materials and practical arrangements; Provide support to Policy Planning and Operations Section activities related to IFE participant training. In coordination with the Training Section (OSI/T), define pre-exercise training requirements, coordinate with participants on training schedules and administrative arrangements, and ensure participant information is accurately maintained in the Provisional Technical Secretariatโs (PTS) systems in line with data protection requirements; Coordinate and oversee all logistical aspects for participants attending the IFE, including managing end-to-end attendance processes in compliance with organizational policies and efficient resource utilization; Serve as the primary focal point for external participants and ensuring effective and timely communication; Participate in the IFE as a member of the Exercise Management team at the Headquarters OSC, in the host country, or both; and in this capacity deliver injects to exercise participants, provide briefings to senior management on exercise progress and expected actions, and respond to inquiries of States Signatories in coordination with relevant senior managers; Contribute to follow-up and review after exercise activities conclude in the field or at CTBTO Headquarters; Compile and analyze data on the OSI exercise programme for reporting purposes, including assessment of its effectiveness, participant statistics, and key lessons learned for reporting at relevant Policy Making Organs to States Signatories; and Perform other duties as assigned.Education
University degree in international relations, public or business administration, education, training and development, or in any field related to CTBT verification technologies or similar technical disciplines.Work Experience and Qualifications
At least five (5) years of relevant working experience at the national and/or international level in organization and implementation of large-scale activities, field operations, training courses, or similar activities; Experience in project management and project evaluation, including knowledge of data entry and protection of participant personal data; Flexibility and ability to work under pressure; Tact, discretion, and ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural environment and ability to work well in a team; Prior relevant working experience in international organizations or national government bodies, as well as presenting at relevant scientific and technical fora, is desirable.Languages
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of other official CTBTO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable.Competencies

Remuneration
CTBTO offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in accordance with the policies of the International Civil Service Commission. The salary offered may be subject to deductions to the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund and/or Health Insurance Scheme.
Short Term Appointments shall initially be made under a contract for a period not to exceed 364 days, subject to the successful completion of the probation period set forth in the Letter of Appointment.
