Mission and objectivesWith its establishment on 7 April 1948, WHO works worldwide to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. WHOโ€™s goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being.

ContextThis assignment is part of WHO Tรผrkiyeโ€™s preparation for the September Suicide Prevention Workshop and directly supports the organizationโ€™s work under the WHO Global Health Strategy 2025โ€“2028 (GPW 14) to promote health equity, mental health awareness, and community empowerment. Improving the clarity, inclusiveness, and accessibility of communication materials is essential to ensure that key messages about mental health and suicide prevention reach all audiences, particularly persons with disabilities, youth, and other marginalized groups.

Task DescriptionWe are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to edit and proofread about 15-page document written in Turkish on mental health, suicide prevention, and review with rights-based approach. The Online Volunteers will be responsible for: โ€ข Reviewing and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors; โ€ข Editing long and complex sentences to ensure that the document is clear, concise, and easy to understand; โ€ข Ensuring that the language is fully non-ableist, inclusive, and aligned with a human rights-based approach, in accordance with WHO and UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) standards in addition to the official Turkish documents; โ€ข Preserving the original meaning and structure while significantly improving the style, flow, and accessibility of the document for diverse audiences, including persons with disabilities and non-expert readers; โ€ข Delivering a professionally edited version ready for public dissemination or workshop use. Additionally, Online Volunteers are expected to participate in one preparatory training and briefing sessions organized by WHO Tรผrkiyeโ€™s Mental Health and Communication Teams, focusing on WHOโ€™s editorial standards, rights-based language use, and non-ableist communication principles. The training and briefing sessions aim to ensure consistency and quality across all editing tasks.
