In support of Mercy Corpsโ mission, the Corporate Partnership team manages Mercy Corpsโ fundraising relationships with major US and European companies. We set bold visions for the positive social change we can create with our partners, provide outstanding partner services and relationship management, and together build meaningful partnerships that provide value to all parties while creating lasting impact for the local communities where we work. Our partnerships span areas including emergency response, economic and market development, food and water security, climate change, and peacebuilding. We work across many teams at Mercy Corps, including marketing and communications, mass market fundraising, the executive office, and with our program and country-based colleagues around the world. This team is within Mercy Corpsโ broader Development team, also encompassing major and mid-level giving and strategic philanthropy.
The Position (General Position Summary)
This position supports the Corporate Partnership Team in deepening partnerships with key corporations and raising critical unrestricted funds through employee engagement and workplace giving. The Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving Officer will work in close partnership with the Senior Officer to implement, maintain, and grow programs that engage employees of key corporate partners with Mercy Corpsโ mission, with an overarching goal of increasing revenue from those sources. This positionโs focus on employee giving and employee engagement compliments and supports the work of the Corporate Partnership Team's efforts with a portfolio of high value, long-term relationships with major US-based companies.
Essential Responsibilities
Workplace Giving Program Planning and Operations
- Work closely with the Sr. Officer, Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving to develop and deepen strategic corporate partnerships through employee engagement activities and workplace giving initiatives.
- Work in close collaboration with colleagues across the development and marketing teams to implement effective employee giving strategies in order to grow workplace giving revenue.
- Develop, design and update employee fundraising and matching gift information materials such as fact sheets and digital tool kits in relation to employee engagement, corporate employee giving and matching gifts.
- In partnership with the Director of CFT Services, track financial reporting and analyze workplace giving trends.
- Respond to employee giving, matching gifts, and employee fundraising queries and initiatives.
- Lead data entry process, queries and other data management activities related to employee engagement to facilitate efficient information storage and retrieval in Raiserโs Edge
Relationship Management & Fundraising
- Make significant contributions to efforts to raise $1,000,000 - $1,500,000 in employee giving and matching funds from a portfolio of private sector partners
- Cultivate relationships with key corporate partner contacts focused specifically on employee engagement and workplace giving
- Support the management and cultivation of relationships with US-based workplace giving federations and fundraising platforms, and execute the strategy to grow Mercy Corpsโ presence and influence on these channels and ultimately grow revenue from these sources
- Produce and share a steady stream of communications materials to cultivate, steward and share the impact of their support with corporate partners and their employees
Engagement & Representation
- Represent Mercy Corps at employee engagement and workplace giving events (both in-person and virtually) as a presenter and facilitator, bringing Mercy Corpsโ mission and work to life in compelling, tangible ways.
- Work closely with Development and Marketing teams and other internal stakeholders to develop and implement meaningful engagements for corporate partner campaigns
- Recruit and organize temps or volunteers as needed or required for tabling opportunities, events, administrative needs or special projects.
- Develop and produce communications materials to report back to corporate partners on employee engagement events and activities.

Works Directly With: Global Corporate and Foundations Team, Development Operations, Creative Team, Marketing Operations
Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.
Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills
- Bachelorโs degree preferred, or transferable work experience and skills
- At least 2+ yearsโ experience in the field of employee engagement, communications, marketing, fundraising or advocacy
- Successful marketing or fundraising experience or corporate workplace giving program implementation preferred
- Strong facilitation and project management skills
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Demonstrated people skills and customer service experience, track record of managing strong professional relationships
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well independently, in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities
- Experience in MS Office, Google Drive, online collaboration and design tools, and CRM database software.
Success Factors
The successful Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving Officer will have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. They will be highly organized with strong attention to detail, and will be able to balance multiple priorities and work well in a team as well as independently, with minimal supervision. This person will represent Mercy Corps externally and manage high-value partnerships, including corporate partnersโ employees, workplace giving platforms, vendors and other stakeholders. Finally, this person will have an interest in humanitarian and development issues, be dedicated to Mercy Corpsโ mission of helping to build more secure, productive, and just communities, and will share that passion with supporters.
Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions
The position can be based in Portland, OR , Washington, DC or remotely within approved US states, and requires up to 20% domestic travel to support the objectives of this position and the corporate partnerships team.
