FAO country offices, headed by an FAO Representative, are assisting governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition.
Reporting Lines
Staff members deployed for surge support report to the FAO Representative. ย

Support to implementation of FAOโs resilience agenda at global, regional, subregional and/or country level.

Research, technical analysis, and project related services to support the delivery of programme projects, products, and services.
Key Functions
โข ย ย Researches and analyzes technical, food and nutrition security assessments, emergency response, policy related and/or funding/project related data and information to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services;
โข ย ย Produces various reports, proposals, programme/project documents, position papers, policy briefs, financial/donor reports as well as critical information for inclusion in governing body reports etc;
โข ย ย Participates on project teams, collaborates in project and programme formulation and provides technical and/or administrative support to ongoing operational emergency and recovery projects;
โข ย ย Liaises with FAO technical Departments as well as other UN Organizations to obtain and/or exchange information regarding Food and nutrition security assessments, emergency and recovery activities and other related issues;
โข ย ย Provides technical/administrative support and promotes best practices to Decentralized Offices;
โข ย ย Monitors and provides support to resource mobilization activities including corporate appeals, donor macro grants, CERF/SFERA submissions, annual appeals and mid-year reviews, maintains information and prepares related reports;
โข ย ย Maintains and updates information systems, databases and web pages;
โข ย ย Performs other duties.
Specific Functions
โข Coordinates the timely provision of support for the countries in his/her portfolio for the effective implementation of emergency and resilience projects throughout the project cycle;
โข Supports the formulation of humanitarian appeals and response plans;
โข Reviews project concept notes; identifies and mobilizes technical support for project and programme formulation and to ensure technical quality in programme and project activities;
โข Supports Country Offices in the mobilization of expertise to sustain and develop capacity for efficient field programme and project delivery;
โข Disseminates and promotes the use of relevant guidelines and tools in country teams;
โข Provides updated country and regional information on the country humanitarian and food security context.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
โข ย ย Experience in public and/or private sectors related to programming, planning and technical cooperation in food and agriculture, including experience in developing countries, especially in countries that are vulnerable to disaster or other emergency risks.
