The Opportunity
Plan International Ethiopia is looking for an Education Officer for Multi sectorial project funded by the NORAD. This position will be a part of Multi sectorial project of Health and Nutrition, Education WASH and child protection initiative to contribute for drought affected and recovery opportunities for primary school aged of West Hararge zone, Guba Koricha woreda. This position is responsible for assessment, response analysis, design and implementation of the education components of multisector project. S/he will need to co-ordinate with other team members and Plan staff, especially Implementation Management, protection and other relevant technical sectors, to ensure a rapid, proportionate and effective program delivery. S/he will need to ensure response to immediate child education issues with simultaneous consideration of longer term needs and possible scenarios. The officer may be expected to take a very active role in technical co-ordination, support and advocacy with the country specific education Clusters and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector.
The Individual
- B.E. BSc degree in Education, Social studies, pedagogy, Community Development, Psychology,
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in Education, school wash, and child protection
- Minimum of two successful assignments in a complex crisis,
- Experience in mobilizing and training school teachers.
- Knowledge and experience of using and providing training on the INEE Minimum
- Standards for Education, Participation and/or coordination with the Education,
- Knowledge and experience of using and providing training on WASH, Child protection related contents
- Knowledge and experience in formal and non-formal education
- Knowledge of Afan Oromo language is Mandatory

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan Internationalโs Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan Internationalโs safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan Internationalโs global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan Internationalโs global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
