Jointly with the countries in the region, the Social Sector formulates public policy solutions to reduce poverty and improve the delivery of education, work, social protection, and health services. The objective is to advance a more productive region, with equal opportunities for men and women, and greater inclusion of the most vulnerable groups.

The IDB Group helps Latin American and Caribbean countries promote skills development and lifelong learning as a strategy to ensure that citizens can contribute productively to society, improve their well-being, and be good citizens. To this end, it works with the countries of the region in five lines of action:

  1. ensure that people have equitable access to relevant, high-quality learning opportunities throughout their lives.
    1. strengthen quality and relevance assurance mechanisms.
      1. consolidate and develop better financing and co-financing mechanisms to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and coverage of skills development opportunities.
        1. take advantage of the use of technology to increase equity and access to skills development opportunities and improve the efficiency of skills development systems; and
          1. actively promote the generation and use of evidence to inform decisions about skills development.

            About this position

            The Education Division is seeking a highly motivated professional with experience in project management to support the 21st Century Skills Initiative. In this role, you will be an integral part of the 21st Century Skills Initiative, which operates within the IDB Social Sector. This team is dedicated to enhancing the operational capacity of the organization in crafting policies that promote the development of 21st-century skills throughout the region. This role requires expertise in project coordination to optimize human development and education programs in the region. Responsibilities include supporting operations, crafting a toolkit for assessing and evaluating transversal skills, acting as a liaison between stakeholders, and supporting the 21st Century Skills Coalition's activities. We prefer candidates with experience in education, international business administration, and development program coordination in Latin America and the Caribbean.

            What you鈥檒l do

            1. Support the monitoring process of the day-to-day operations of the 21st Century Skills Initiative, this includes:

            support to monitor the initiative's budget, track expenses, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure fiscal responsibility.

            Efficiently manage operational logistics, allocate resources, and address administrative tasks critical to the seamless operation of the initiative.

            Support project preparation to seek new funding, related to the initiative.

            2. Assist in the coordination of strategic alliances with public and private entities that join the 21st Century Skills Coalition. This includes:

            Facilitate the process for new members of this multi-sector association.

            Maintain comprehensive records and reports on the Coalition's activities, potential candidates, and outcomes.

            Promote the Coalition's initiatives, products, and results among IDB stakeholders.

            Keep the association's database, documents, and member information up to date.

            3. Collaborate with stakeholders to conceive, develop, and implement innovative programs and solutions aimed at fostering 21st Century Skills in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

            4. Assist to development of the toolkit to assess, showcase, and communicate transversal skills, including identifying measurements and learning content.

            Contribute to the identification, development, translation, and adaptation of measurements and learning content for the toolkit.

            Ensure the quality and efficacy of contracted organizations implementing and evaluating programs by reviewing and providing feedback on their products and reports.

            Coordinate activities related to a skill assessment platform to ensure adequate functionality.

            5. Provide support to all activities that are entrusted by the project team leader.

            What you'll need

            Education: master鈥檚 degree in business management, Project Management, Education, Communication, Social Science, or related areas or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.

            Experience: At least 5 years of experience related to the consultancy.

            Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
