Mission and objectivesUNDP operates in over 170 countries and territories, working to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. We support countries in developing strong policies, skills, partnerships, and institutions to help sustain their progress. The UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC) operates through its Istanbul Regional Hub and works in close collaboration with 18 Country Offices across Europe and Central Asia.
ContextThe Inclusive Growth and Gender Teams at the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) in Istanbul, Türkiye, have developed a regional report and five accompanying country reports focusing on a gender responsive review of care systems. To ensure the highest quality and consistency of these reports prior to publication, we are seeking two experienced online volunteers to provide editing and proofreading support. The selected online volunteers will have a unique opportunity to further enhance professional skills in an international development context, enhance cross-cultural communication abilities, and contribute to impactful work that advances gender equality and inclusive growth in the region.
Task DescriptionThe two Online Volunteers will be responsible for editing and proofreading the regional and 5 country reports to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in language, style, and formatting. They will work collaboratively, coordinating closely to maintain a uniform tone and structure across all documents. The two Online Volunteers will: • Edit and proofread their assigned reports for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall language quality. • Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across all reports. • Check for clarity, coherence, and logical flow of content, making suggestions for improvement where necessary. • Verify that references, footnotes, and annexures are correctly formatted. • Coordinate regularly with each other to align on editing standards and resolve any discrepancies. • Liaise on a regular basis with the Social Protection Specialist in the Inclusive Growth team and the Research and KM Analyst in the Gender Team, and with interested Country Offices, where needed, to clarify content, incorporate feedback, and address any questions. • Ensure that the final versions are ready for publication, adhering to UNDP guidelines (to be provided).
