Mission and objectivesThe Security Council, in resolution 2542 (2020), and in paragraph 16 of 2570 (2021), tasked UNSMIL, as an integrated special political mission, in full accordance with the principles of national ownership, to exercise mediation and through its good offices to: Further an inclusive political process, in line with relevant Security Council resolutions, building on the basis of the Libyan Political Agreement and the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) Roadmap, and building on the updated electoral laws agreed by the 6+6 Committee. Facilitate political negotiations to deliver free, fair, transparent and inclusive national presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible across the country, on the basis of viable electoral laws, aiming to form a unified Libyan government able to govern across the country and representing all the people of Libya. Work with Libyan stakeholders to reunify Libya’s political, economic, military and security state institutions and safeguard the independence of the judiciary. Work with Libyan institutions and authorities to ensure full, equal, effective and meaningful and safe participation of women and inclusion of youth at all levels, including in leadership positions, and in all decision-making relating to inclusive political processes, democratic transition, reconciliation efforts, conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Continue support to enable the HNEC to deliver free, fair, transparent and inclusive national presidential and parliamentary elections across Libya, as well as local elections across Libya. Facilitate confidence building measures, dialogue and reconciliation between armed actors to prevent violence and conflict escalation through UNSMIL’s mediation and good offices towards the full implementation of the 23 October 2020 ceasefire agreement. Monitor and report abuses and violations of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law, including sexual violence in conflict and violations and abuses against children. Requests the Secretary-General to submit at Strategic Review of UNSMIL to the Security Council by 30 September 2025.

ContextThe United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is seeking an online volunteer to edit a study for publication. The study is written in English and requires editing and proofreading for spelling and grammatical errors, as well as stylistic improvements, before translation into Arabic. The selected volunteer should ensure the document is concise, clear, and easy to understand. Communication will be conducted via email or Zoom, and adequate guidance and instructions will be provided.

Task DescriptionWe are looking for one volunteer who will be available to proofread and review of the study titled: Voices of Resilience: Libyan Women's Journey in the 2021 Elections. The volunteer will be expected to complete tasks with the utmost professionalism and deadlines for all tasks will be mutually agreed upon. The tasks is estimated to need 45 hours, over the period of three weeks. And your task will be: - To review the study which contains 62 Pages. - To identify spelling or grammatical mistakes. - To unify the style of the study and improve from the stylistic point of view.
