Mission and objectivesUnited Nations Volunteers (UNV) is based in Bonn, Germany, with around 300 staff members at headquarters. In 2024, there were over 14,600 UN Volunteers deployed in some 170 countries around the world. UNV has an offices in New York and Tokyo, six regional offices in Amman, Bangkok, Dakar, Istanbul, Nairobi and Panama City, and 60 Field Units. Toily Kurbanov is the Executive Coordinator of UNV. UNDP is a global knowledge network that promotes human development and connects countries with knowledge, experiences and resources to help people build better lives. UNDP has supported Djibouti since 1979 in its solutions to development challenges and capacity building that will help them achieve the goals of sustainable development. In line with the Djibouti National Development Strategy, the UNDAF and the UNDP Strategic Plan, we are committed to supporting the Government and people of Djibouti.
ContextUNDP in Djibouti has requested the support of UNV to assist with the logistics needed to support the UNDP Youth Forum in Djibouti. Through this Special Programme Initiative (SPI), UNV offers a solution to UNDP by putting forth UNV’s structure and expertise to mobilize 20 national community part-time UN Volunteers. The initiative will build on lessons learnt from the Volunteers for Events SPIs and allow UNV to assess the viability and scalability of mobilizing UN Volunteers for short periods to assist in events. With this SPI, UNV aims to support the functioning of the United Nations system through the engagement of empowered UN Volunteers.
Task DescriptionWe are looking for 10 Online Volunteers who will support outreach and promotion of the Forum volunteer opportunities in Dibouti. Under the guidance of UNV’s Country Support Officer, volunteers will: Share the official Youth Forum volunteer calls on social media platforms, WhatsApp groups, and community networks in Djibouti. Connect with local organizations, universities, and youth groups to encourage them to promote the opportunities among their members. Adapt and create simple outreach content (short posts, visuals, captions) tailored to the Djiboutian audience to maximize visibility and applications.
