Development / Development OperationsThe mission of the Development department, along with Marketing & Communications, is to advance the organizationโ€™s strategic goals and support our worldwide team by raising flexible funds, profile and influence. The team encompasses several dozen dynamic professionals who possess a wide range of skills. We are gift officers, direct response fundraisers, web developers, marketers and media relations strategists. We are database managers, digital specialists, creative designers, storytellers and teachers. Within the Development department, the Development Operations (DevOps) team provides critical support to fundraisers through gift processing, data management and analysis, and responding to donor inquiries.
The Position The Director of Fundraising Data is a technical project manager who will understand Mercy Corpsโ€™ current fundraising data systems and tools; working with team members across fundraising and IT, they assess risks and propose right-sized solutions to ensure data integrity and continuity. They are a thought partner with the Senior Director of Development Operations on reporting strategy, and work directly with database managers and BI Developer to bring the strategy to life. The Director of Fundraising Data ensures that Development and MarComms understand data privacy requirements and maintains documentation related to data inventories and data management practices. Underpinning all of their work, the Director will play a critical role in preparation for transition to a new CRM in 3-5 years which will have transformational impacts on our data and our fundraising. Essential Responsibilities
DATA AND REPORTING STRATEGY

Taking stock of our current state of reporting and setting the path for growth and change.

Develop a reporting strategy that includes assessing existing reports usage and identifying gaps across fundraisers to support their KPIs

Work with BI Developer and database managers to build models for data validation (e.g., for Business Continuity Planning); for data checks to ensure data integrity and quality; for emergency fundraising reporting; and for dashboards using Power BICreate a full report development lifecycle process for intake, needs gathering, reporting solutions/options, data validation and quality controlLeads, gathers and compiles documentation of current reporting environment options (SSRS, Power BI, on-prem, cloud) and outline intermediate and longer-term options with cost implications, timeline and viabilityWorks with BI Developer to ensure adequate ETL documentation, including identifying areas for optimization and outlining related business decisions and impactsWork with Marketing team to integrate Digital Analyst workstreams into fundraising reportingWork with IT to input the fundraising perspective in the IT Roadmap around data, CRM, and other needsLiaise with others in the organization working on data projects to share learning and to create harmony for the end-user experienceDATA SECURITY FOCAL POINT

Work with Development/MarComms data processors to ensure compliance with Mercy Corpsโ€™ Responsible Data Policy, including security protocols for donor and prospect data, including but not limited to: Lead on and maintain documentation for all Development and MarComms data systems and which types of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) they contain Create map of where donor and prospect data flow both internally and externally Ensure continued compliance with data protection policies and procedures: Privacy Policy on the Mercy Corps website PCI Compliance (both for Mercy Corps and vendors handling our data) Internal documentation needs around handling PII Review contracts and data sharing practices with outside vendors, agencies, mail houses, and list brokers to ensure presence of data compliance standards Identify and mitigate, along with IT, vulnerabilities with regard to Mercy Corpsโ€™ fundraising data Keep abreast of data privacy changes that impact our work Ensure new Development and MarComms team members are trained on data privacy requirements as they pertain to donor and prospect data; hold periodic refresher trainings CRM CONVERSION PREPARATION
In all that the Director does, they will have in mind the prospect of a new CRM, either at the agency level or just within the Development and MarComms departments, in the next 3-5 years. Preparing for such a transformational change requires documentation of our current systems and understanding the potential with a new system, thinking beyond replicating our current processes but to what is possible that we may not yet have imagined.

This policy is necessary to ensure not only the safety of our workforce, but the ongoing functionality of the organization.

This policy will be revised as needed to comply with federal, state, and local requirements, and to respond to changing guidance from public health authorities.

For new employees this requirement goes into effect within 10 business days of employment. Team members that travel are expected to comply with host-country requirements, including vaccinations. Failure to comply may impact your employment. Proof of vaccination or exemption must be provided.
