Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking a Development Communications Manager who is creative, solutions-focused and hardworking, to build the profile of our partnerships with institutional funders in Europe including Novamedia/Postcode Lottery Group.
The Development Communications Manager will respond to partnersโ requests for communications materials, produce and edit social media content, and proactively identify communication and media opportunities to raise awareness of HRWโs work and partnerships to a broad audience. It will also be the focal point and lead for interactions with key external constituents ensuring that the communications activities enable the partnerships to meet their goals, and work closely with HRWโs Media and Development Departments to promote a culture of collaboration and innovation with our partners.
This is a fixed-term, full-time position for 6 months, with the possibility of extension. The position will be based in our Amsterdam, Berlin, London or Stockholm office and will report to the Audience Engagement Director based in New York.

Qualifications
Education: A bachelorโs in Communications, Journalism, Multimedia, Marketing, Visual Arts or equivalent experience is required. Candidates with equivalent training/experience and a passion for journalism and/or human rights work are encouraged to apply.
Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience working in broadcast journalism, video production, communications, marketing, or a similar field is required.
Related Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required; proficiency in another language, such as Dutch, German, or Swedish, is preferred. Ability to work effectively with multiple languages is required. Track record in conceptualising, creating and posting content on social media that resonates with broad audiences is required.Familiarity with legacy and emerging social media channels is desired, experience with LinkedIn is a plus. Track record in developing and co-ordinating communications activity involving multiple stakeholders is required. Excellent storytelling copywriting and editing skills are required. Creativity and the ability to identify and turn around a shareable story quickly is required. Demonstrate traits of tact, discretion, sound editorial judgment and the ability to function in a confidential capacity is required. Working knowledge of Mac OS are required; Proficiency in design software like Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. are desirable. Experience using digital tools and software including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Sprout Social, and similar products is preferred. Experience in project management and project management software like Asana, Monday.com or similar products are required. Proficiency in analyzing data, generating insights, and implementing best practices are required. Ability to demonstrate continual learning in the field of communications is required. Excellent time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks while maintaining a strong attention to detail are required. Excellent project management skills: from definition and design to delivery and evaluation is required. Ability to multi-task multiple stories while also producing long-term projects, work under pressure, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment is required. Interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within HRW as well as with external partners are required. Flexibility in responding quickly to events as they occur, producing excellent written material under tight deadlines is required.
