Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground: Desertification, along with climate change and the loss of biodiversity were identified as the greatest challenges to sustainable development during the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Established in 1994, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is the sole legally binding international agreement linking environment and development to sustainable land management. The Convention seeks to support countries to address Desertification, Land Degradation, and Drought (DLDD). (www.unccd.int ) The G20 (or Group of Twenty) is the annual international forum for the governments from 19 industrialized countries, the African Union and European Union (EU). The G20 Leaders' Declaration, issued in 2020, launched a \"Global Initiative on Reducing Land Degradation and Enhancing Conservation of Terrestrial Habitats\" (G20 Global Land Initiative). Building on existing initiatives and on a voluntary basis, G20 countries share the ambition to achieve a 50 percent reduction in the amount of degraded land by 2040. In 2025, G20 GLI will be organizing several outreach and advocacy events to reach new audiences, to support communications activities in support of the UNCCDโs Desertification and Drought Day and of South Africaโs G20 Presidency. The G20 Global Land Initiative is also planning communication activities associated with its approved 2025-2026 Work Programme. In order to support these technical activities, the services of a layout consultant is needed. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare designs to support communication of G20 Global Land Initiative activities and events, including but not limited to: 1. Design flyers for all key activity pillars for G20 to promote the G20 Global Land Initiative. 2. Design reports, policy, technical and communication briefs and other products to promote the flagship activities of the G20. 3. Design new templates for G20 GLI, including webinars, trainings and workshops. 4. Design folders and communication products to promote GLI activities in member states and associated organisations. 5. Work with the visualization and web designers to ensure that the online and print versions of these products are aligned. 6. Work with marketing departments to design and/or align G20 GLI promotional products, including preparation of product specifications for the merchandise. 7. Develop exhibition designs for designated events. 8. Other Duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications/special skills- Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in design, digital arts, fine arts or digital communications or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in design, digital arts, fine arts or digital communications or related field in combination with two years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university. - Minimum of five yearsโ work experience in design, digital arts, fine arts or digital communications is required. - Knowledge of specialised design software is required. - High degree of creativity, good design skills and good interpersonal skills. LanguagesFluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
