Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind.ย
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Country Offices, led by FAO Representatives, implement the corporate Strategic Framework at the country level. They provide policy advice and technical assistance to support the development of policies, programmes, and projects aimed at achieving food security, reducing hunger and malnutrition, and promoting sustainable agricultural development to ensure zero hunger.ย
In Bangladesh, the FAO Representation (FAOBD) implements multiple corporate, national, regional, and global projects and programmes under the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP), Trust Fund (TF), and Regular Programme (RP) budgets. These initiatives address priority needs identified by the Government and stakeholders, focusing on strengthening capacities, promoting innovative technologies, and enhancing policy frameworks to drive sustainable transformation of agrifood systems.
The objectives of these initiatives include:
โข ย ย ย ย Collecting high-quality qualitative and quantitative field data according to project protocolsย
โข ย ย ย ย Maintaining accurate datasets, field notes, and photo documentationย
โข ย ย ย ย Participating in enumerator training and field activities as scheduledย
โข ย ย ย ย Contributing to timely progress reports and documentation of field findingsย
The Data Enumerator will play a key role in supporting these initiatives by accurately gathering field data, documenting activities, assisting in community consultations, and ensuring the timely submission of reports to support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
Reporting Lines
The Data Enumerator(s) (SC1) will support field data collection activities under the direct supervision of the Data Enumerators Supervisor and the overall guidance of the Natural Resources Socioeconomic Specialist.
Technical Focus
The position focuses on supporting field data collection activities while ensuring strict adherence to project protocols and quality standards. The incumbent will be responsible for accurately gathering both qualitative and quantitative data, maintaining organized field records, and ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of all data and reports under the supervision of the Data Enumerators Supervisor.
Tasks and responsibilities
โข ย ย ย ย Assist in the emergency monitoring system related to ย the impacts of various shocks on food supply, agricultural livelihoods, and food security in Bangladesh, but not limited, to:ย
ย ย - Attend and actively participate in the training session prior to fieldwork.ย
ย ย - Organizing and conducting community consultationsย
ย ย - Gathering baseline or preliminary information ย ย ย ย
ย ย - Facilitating and/or supporting trainings, capacity-building activities, learning events, etc.ย
ย ย - Monitoring project activities through regular data collection and preparing periodic reportsย
ย ย - Contributing to the development of inputs, materials, and equipment distribution plansย
ย ย - Submit completed questionnaires and field notes as instructed. ย
โข ย ย ย ย Collect agricultural market information, when necessary and as directed ย
โข ย ย ย ย Monitor and collect qualitative and quantitative data from project activities, including post-distribution and post-training data and disaster impactsย
โข ย ย ย ย Inform beneficiaries of the AAP (Accountability to the Affected People) message and feedback mechanism, and ensure all complaints from beneficiaries are recorded, resolved, and adequate feedback is provided in a timely mannerย
โข ย ย ย ย Perform other related activities as required
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements ย ย
โข ย ย ย ย University degree in any discipline, preferably in Sociology, Economics, Statistics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Anthropology, Public Administration, Business Studies, or other relevant social science.ย
โข ย ย ย ย Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in field operations and data collection, with strong skills in maintaining accurate records and timely reporting.ย
โข ย ย ย ย Working knowledge of English and Bangla (Level C).ย
โข ย ย ย ย Must be a national of Bangladesh.
