Mission and objectivesIstanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is one of UNDP's six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDPโs global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDPโs offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.
ContextThe Frontier Technology Radar for Disaster Risk Reduction (FTR4DRR) is a UNDP Tech4R initiative that tracks innovative digital solutions deployed before, during, or after disasters. The Radar serves as an open-access platform for NGOs, UN agencies, governments, and communities seeking real-world tools that support resilience and recovery. To enhance this platform, we are forming a short-term Volunteer Data Collector Volunteer Team that will contribute to identifying and documenting disaster-related technology use cases globally. These cases will enrich the Radarโs database and help connect relevant stakeholders with practical, replicable digital solutions. Task DescriptionEach volunteer will be responsible for the following: Identify disaster tech cases from credible sources (news articles, NGO/UN reports, research papers, websites, etc.). Fill in case templates in an easy-to-use form provided by Tech4R, covering: Solution name & purpose Type of disaster addressed Technology used (e.g., AI, GIS, IoT, mobile apps) Implementing organization Impact/results (if available) Location and dates Source link(s) Attend 1 team orientation and 2 mid-point check-ins (virtual) Submit at least 10 well-documented cases by the end of the assignment. Coordinate weekly with the team to avoid duplication and share progress.
