5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mercy Corps is powered by the belief that a better world is possible. To do this, we know our teams do their best work when they are diverse and every team member feels that they belong. We welcome diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills so that we can be stronger and have long term impact.

The Program / Department / Team
Mercy Corpsโ€™ Crisis Analysis (CA) function supports humanitarian, early recovery and resilience, and development programming in the most complex contexts, including Syria, Lebanon, Ukraine, Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of Congo and others. Mercy Corps CA teams aggregate and analyze data to improve decision-making and access in complex crises. The teams directly contribute to data-driven decision-making by layering information from primary sources, open sources and respondersโ€™ programmatic data, which is analyzed by subject matter experts and data scientists. This analysis is grounded in Mercy Corpsโ€™ status as an operational NGO, keeping our products constructive and relevant for humanitarian responders and donors within a given crisis.

Crisis Analysis โ€“ Syria

Crisis Analysis โ€“ Syria supports Mercy Corpsโ€™ in-country programming as well as the wider humanitarian response throughout the region through the provision of quality, timely and relevant analytical products.CAโ€“SYR looks at social, political, economic and security issues, including underlying factors that trigger conflict and displacement such as governance and service provision, the war economy, past displacement patterns, local, regional and international politics, social identity and inter-communal relationships, and Syrian modern history. CAโ€“SYR also serves as a real-time information hub; assesses programmatic, partner, and operational risk; identifies and maps stakeholders; and works with internal partners to better enable data-driven decision-making. Written HAT products range from daily updates, and monthly periodical reports, to in-depth thematic, situation, and scenario reports.

Crisis Analysis โ€“ DRC

The CAT-DRC team has developed unique expertise in the collection, processing and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data describing the complexities of various crises and crises within crises, focusing specifically on the provinces of Ituri, NK, SK, Tanganyika and Maniema. CAT-DRC's cross-sectoral approach combines a rich understanding of the local context with standardized analytical approaches and innovative analytical technology, augmented and amplified by national and international collaborations and partnerships. To guarantee the relevance, speed and quality of its analyses, CAT-DRC draws on the sectoral expertise of the existing analytical ecosystem and provides unique cross-sectoral analyses to a wide range of stakeholders. The CAT-DRC has developed its own methodologies to track changes in the operational context that combine the specific needs of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding actors, and thus fill existing gaps in terms of \"triple-nexus\" analysis.
