ContextUNICEF Uganda leverages social media as a key tool for communication, advocacy, resource mobilization, and partnerships. To maintain an engaging and impactful online presence, UNICEF Uganda is seeking two Online Volunteers to support content creation, optimization, and community engagement across various social media platforms. The volunteers will assist in enhancing visibility, improving engagement, and ensuring consistent messaging aligned with UNICEF Ugandaโs mission. Their contributions will play a crucial role in raising awareness, amplifying impact stories, and fostering meaningful online discussions. Online Volunteers will receive feedback on their work, a certificate of appreciation upon successful completion of their assignment, and acknowledgment of their contributions where applicable.
Task DescriptionSocial media platforms optimization ยท Optimizing social media profiles for better visibility โ Assess and ensure that all profiles have industry standard bios, suggesting adding of relevant keywords, suggest pictures for use on profile and cover images, ensuring consistency in branding, and adding relevant links etc. Content planning, creation, editing, proofing and management: ยท Develop engaging content tailored for various platforms, including X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. ยท Generate content for pre-defined days in accordance with the office and wider UN commemorations calendars, relevant to UNICEF.eg Womenโs Day 8th, World Water Day 22nd March, International Girls in ICT Day 24th April, World environment Day 5th June, World Day against child labor 12th June ยท Content creation for Instagram (Reels) โ Create short, engaging videos showcasing behind-the-scenes moments, event highlights, impact stories, testimonials, or educational content. The content should align with the organizationโs ongoing campaigns if need be and can be sourced from our content already existing on YouTube. ยท Designing graphics, posters, and infographics โ These should be created for specific campaigns, social media posts, event promotions, or awareness days. (Women's day 8th March, International Day of Happiness 20th March, Ebola and Mpox, International Girls in ICT Day 24th April, World environment Day 5th June (relate it to children and climate change, World Day against Child Labor, 12th June). ยท Work with the Communication team to brainstorm on how best donor recognition and visibility on social media can be enhanced beyond tagging partners and dissemination of online posters with donor logos. ยท Creating/Starting community engagement โ Volunteers can initiate topical discussions by posting thought-provoking questions, running polls on X (Twitter), Instagram Stories, or LinkedIn, and responding to trending topics relevant to the cause through their accounts, tagging us and relevant partners. ยท Campaign support (Developing messages for specific target groups like youth, U-Report, Fundoo, etc) โ Volunteers can draft messages in text format based on UNICEFโs key messaging documents, past campaign content, and research insights from credible sources like UNICEF reports and government publications. They should work closely with the core communications team to ensure alignment. Collaboration and coordination: ยท Work closely with core communications team to gather information and organize content that meets audience needs. This is a great opportunity to contribute to UNICEF Ugandaโs mission while gaining valuable experience in content management, editing, and coordination.
