As the UN agency with the mandate to work on gender equality, UN Women is responsible for leading and coordinating United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world and at the country level. UN Women is also expected to provide strong and coherent leadership in support of countriesโ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society, the nodal government agency, the private sector, and other relevant actors.
UN Women India Country Office is currently implementing a programme in six states (Assam, Delhi-NCR, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal) to forge and strengthen multi-stakeholder partnerships in the tea, spice, cotton and textile sector toย improve the overall health, wellness, and safety of women in the supply chain process. The programme also aims to collaborate withย local governments andย community organizations to strengthen the capacities of women and men agents of change, ensuring sustainable practices and coordinating efforts in the prevention of violence against women.
In this context, UN Women seeks to hire a consultant who under the overall supervision of the Country Programme Manager and with regularย guidance of the UN Women State Coordinator and Programme Manager of the programme, UN Women will undertake the following key tasks and responsibilities:ย
Develop Training Needs Assessment (TNA) tools for both short- and long-duration training, pilot test and roll out of the training.ย Develop and deliver engaging training sessions on gender sensitivity; on themes of safety, wellness and health of women ensuring the content is inclusive, thematically relevant, and tailored to the specific needs of the participants. Conduct trainings as per need of the program and according to the training calendar arrived upon in consultation with state lead, and Country Program Manager EVAW. Online training will be approved under exceptional circumstances.ยIn addition, the following needs to be created:
Session plans tailored to the trainee cohort.ย Training of Trainers (TOT) module. Training modules (in English and local language).ย Participant handouts and briefs in English and local language based on the cohort profile.ย Trainee cohorts include, but are not limited to, first responders, management teams of industry partners, government personnel at block, district, and state levels, industry bodies, and women workers and farmers in the spice sector.ยDeliverables:
Deliverable 1: 30 % of the total paymentย (approx. 5 days):
A detailed work plan for the assignment(s) submitted to UN Women. Training Needs Assessment tools. ย A brief report on the pilot testing of the Needs Assessment for the diverse cohort part of the program.ย A sample session plan that includes:ย
PowerPoint presentation Training modules and tools that will be used to deliver.ย Handouts/ any other resource material for participants in both English and the local language that will be used during the training.ยDeliverable 2: 50% of the total paymentย (approx. 10 days total)
Conduct a minimum of 6 training sessions in select locations in Kerala, with batch sizes ranging from 25 to 40 participants. Conduct at least 4 Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions for field gender equality champions, women workers, and small-scale farmers. Undertake translation work for training materials and UN Womenโs EquiLearn online platform, translating from local language to English and vice versa, as required. Administer pre- and post-training tests, assess training outcomes, identify gaps, and report findings. Submit training reports in English that include: Training methodology Results of pre- and post-training assessments Recommendations for further strengthening the capacities of targeted stakeholdersNote:ย The number of training sessions, duration, and participant count will be determined by UN Women.
The number of training sessions per intervention site will not exceed 2, as per UN Womenโs requirements.
Deliverable 3: 20% of the total paymentย (approx. 5 days total)
Submission of Training reports, reviewed by UN Women team, with feedback incorporated and final go ahead of completion of task provided by UN Womenย Assessment reports must be submitted to UN Women within 3 working days following each training.ย Final report after accounting for feedback/ inputs by UN Women must be resubmitted within three days of feedback provided by UN Women.ย Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.Competencies :

Familiarity with online learning platforms and experience in delivering virtual or hybrid training sessions. Proven track record of engaging participants through various training methods (e.g., participatory, experiential learning, and case study analysis).
