Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the Agency's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security.
The Division of Nuclear Security (NSNS) is responsible, upon request, for establishing, coordinating and implementing the IAEA's nuclear security programme to protect against, detect and respond to nuclear security events and threats thereof. NSNS comprises four Sections:
• Information Management Section
• Nuclear Security of Materials Outside of Regulatory Control Section
• Nuclear Security of Materials and Facilities Section
• Programme Development and International Cooperation Section
Main Purpose
The main purpose of the consultancy is to provide technical expertise in developing outreach and communication materials on various topics of nuclear security, including presentations and NUSEC portal, as well as contributing to outreach for major meetings and implementing external and internal communication initiatives.
Functions / Key Results Expected
• Ensure the content management of NUSEC portal and any upgrade aiming to improve user experience and navigation, as required;
• Provide technical expertise for the outreach activities in preparation for the International Conference on Computer Security in the Nuclear World: Securing the Future (May 2026) and the Conference of Parties to A/CPPNM (April 2027);
• Re-design presentation files, reports, and other content used to present Division activities;
• Design infographics, factsheets, and other advocacy materials on various nuclear security topics;
• Provide graphics and imagery for social media campaigns;
• Monitor and analyze key metrics and data related to communication activities;
• Contribute to internal communication activities, such as the NSNS newsletter;
• Contribute to other outreach-related projects, as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
University degree in Public Information, International Relations or a related discipline.
Minimum of five years experience in outreach and public communication on complex technical topics.
Demonstrated experience in design and development of outreach materials for large events or conferences.
Web content management and maintenance experience.
Good understanding of the communication needs for successful events.
Skilled and adept use of the following software is an advantage: InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
Experience in communication on nuclear security related subjects is an asset.
Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an asset.
Remuneration
The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
