Program Overview
WRI Indonesia supports Indonesiaโs policymakers in creating frameworks to unlock and access climate financing. By equipping national and subnational actors with the skills and tools to structure blended financing, the WRI Indonesia Energy and Climate programs aims to ensure the implementation of energy projects that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency for both nascent and mature technologies. This ensures that innovative energy solutions can be funded and scaled, which is essential for promoting new technologies in renewable energy and improving energy infrastructure.
Additionally, developing and overseeing finance strategies for urban infrastructure aligns with the WRI Cities Programโs goal of creating livable, resilient, and sustainable cities. Mobilizing private capital for green projects is crucial for urban redevelopment and the implementation of smart city initiatives. Facilitating private sector involvement in low carbon technologies and new business models supports the Cities Program by promoting private investments in urban sustainability projects. This collaboration can lead to significant advancements in urban planning and development.
Job Highlight
The Infrastructure Finance Specialist will provide a strategic input for the finance-related assessment of the transport solution developed by WRI Indonesia. This role involves conducting risk assessments, financial modeling, developing business models and engaging with stakeholders to assess the opportunity of public and private funding. In particular, the consultant will review the transport business case that has been developed in regard to the mass procurement model of electric bus adoption in Indonesia and provide a concept note for the institutional and business model. The post holder will work independently under the direction and supervision of Urban Mobility Manager.
The Infrastructure Finance Specialist will be based in Jakarta with office-flex working arrangement and travel requirement as needed. What You Will Do
- Provide a review note for the transport business case that has been developed by WRI Indonesia
- Conduct risk assessments, financial modeling, and provide strategic financial advice with regard to WRIโs project case.
- Develop the institutional and business model recommendation for the electric mobility mass procurement case.
What You Will Need
Required qualifications:
- Masterโs degree in finance, economics, engineering, or other related field. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in infrastructure finance, financial modeling, risk assessment, and strategic financial management, with a strong background in public-private partnerships and green finance.
- Strong analytical skills in assessing funding opportunities, with experience in economic modeling, policy evaluation, business model development, and financing mechanism.
- Knowledge of infrastructure industry trends, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure issues and the interrelated linkage that co-exists with climate change, governance, and greenhouse gas emissions,
- Proficiency in financial modeling tools with ability to effectively interpret and communicate the output and recommendation.
- Stakeholder engagement experience, particularly in negotiating or advising on financial mechanism.
- Business proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia on both written and verbal communications.
- Commitment to sustainable development and knowledge of environmental and social governance (ESG) criteria.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team player,
- Highly organized and systematic with strong time management skills and ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Ability and willingness to travel as assigned.
- Legally able to work in Indonesia
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in working with asset management and/or infrastructure finance organizations focused on developing countries
- Experience with transport infrastructure project, particularly those related to electric mobility or public transport system
