Program Overview
WRI Indonesiaโs e-mobility portfolio focuses on reducing citiesโ GHG emission through sustainable transportation, vehicle electrification and, in-paralel with the energy and climate programs, greening the electricity grid to reach optimum emission reduction. Our mission is to help cities and provinces to implement low carbon development, particularly in transportation and energy sectors, to achieve economic, social, and environmental goals.
Supply Side Regulation
To achieve this mission, WRI Indonesia collaborates with the government, industry players, and other private sector stakeholders to develop strategies for implementing robust demand- and supply-side measures for zero-emission mobility adoption. In this particular project, WRI Indonesia will work with the government and key partners to assess and implement the Supply Side Regulation (SSR) strategy for the transition to zero-emission mobility in Indonesia.
The SSR strategy will cover interventions including, but not limited to, ZEV (Zero-Emission Vehicle) sales mandates, fuel efficiency standards, COโ emission standards, and credit trading mechanisms. This will be accomplished through unbiased technical research, comprehensive data collection, stakeholder and expert consultations, and cross-country knowledge exchanges. Through the implementation of this project, WRI Indonesia aims to support the Indonesian government in achieving its e-mobility targets while contributing to the realization of transport decarbonization goals.
Job Highlight
The Automotive Industry Analyst will have a role in conducting technical research on the automotive industry from both global and local perspectives. He/She will work with Specialist and other analysts on the team to support the implementation of knowledge development on automotive-related topics to assess trends, opportunities, and challenges faced by the automotive industry in relation to the implementation of Supply Side Regulation (SSR).
In this role, the Automotive Industry Analyst will work under the direction and supervision of WRI Indonesiaโs Urban Mobility Manager, with support from other specialists on the team. The position is based in Jakarta with a flexible office arrangement and may require frequent travel as needed.

What You Will Do
Technical Research and Analysis
- Conduct in-depth analysis of key trends, challenges, and opportunities in the global and national automotive sectors, with a focus on strategies to transition toward a zero-emission industry.
- Develop policy recommendation for the implementation of SSR for ZEV adoption in Indonesia
- Develop strategy for net zero transition for automotive industry in Indonesia.
- Contribute to project deliverables, including reports, presentations, press releases, and other knowledge products.
- Familiarize on WRIโs research standard and guidance and support the development of WRI Indonesia knowledge product on sustainable automotive and mobility industry.
Project Management (20%)
- Collaborate and coordinate with staff across WRI Indonesia, WRI Global and International Offices, in particular from cities and urban mobility program.
- Support in organizing internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences and other implementation activities.
- Able to support teams in developing funding proposals, communication, and knowledge products with manager guidance.
- Involved in formulating reports to funders and donors.
What You Will Need
- Bachelorโs degree in engineering, economics, politics, management, international relations or any other related field in automotive industry. Having a masterโs degree in automotive and transport related is a plus..
- Minimum 3 years of full-time work experience in automotive industry, has a knowledge and experience EV and any new energy mobility is a plus.
- Ability to support discrete elements of research projects with limited manager guidance, e.g. systematically reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing existing literature; collecting, cleaning, organizing, and visualizing data.
- Ability to communicate documenting the data collection, cleaning and analysis process to make it transparent, reproducible, and accessible to team members and reviewers.
- Highly organized and systematic with strong time management skills and ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines required.
- Business proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English on both verbal and written communications
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment and cross sectoral themes.
- Highly motivated, strong can-do attitude, proactive work style and excellent organizational skills and work-ethic.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Legally able to work in Indonesia
Duration
This position is expected to start immediately with an initial contract period up to 31 August 2025
Deliverables
- Assessment report for the key trend, existing policy and regulation, opportunity and challenges for the supply side regulation implementation for Indonesiaโs automotive industry.
- Policy review and recommendation for ZEV acceleration in Indonesia.
- Engagement with key stakeholders including the government, OEM, private sector and associations.
- Monthly verbal or writen progress to the team.
Terms of Payment
Daily rate-based consultant with a maximum of 18 (eighteen) working days per month.
Contract Arrangement
Individual consultancy contract (Part-time, limited term)

Must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
