The Department Mercy Corps has been operating in Venezuela since 2018 implementing humanitarian and development programs, with special emphasis on water, sanitation and hygiene, health, protection, food security, and nutrition, and plays a key role in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information relevant to the humanitarian community in the country. The team is expanding its programs and its team at the country level and is therefore hiring a Community Promoter to assist with all WASH-related activities. Mercy Corps Venezuelaโ€™s Program Team is responsible for the entire life cycle of programs implemented in the country. The team also supports the development of new business opportunities, as well as the in-country grant management and reporting in alignment with donor regulations and Mercy Corps policies. The Position The Community Promoter carry out collection and follow-up of program participants in the municipalities where Mercy Corps operates as well as facilitating workshops and spaces to raise awareness of the key themes of the initiatives. In each municipality, the liaison has to maintain a fixed schedule in a public space where participants can approach to ask for support and make community tours to identify the needs of the locality on an ongoing basis. The promoters represent Mercy Corps on a daily basis to participants, communities, and other entities working in the areas, including government agencies. Manages the organization's instruments for collecting information at different times and in response to critical processes: community assessment, census of people with a profile to participate in the proposals, evaluations of the conferences, etc. Follow up on participant's cases weekly and submit update report. Update the database of participants daily. Identifies and maintains cordial and collaborative relationships with community leaders. Prepares reports to update the location of the participants. Carry out community visits to the residence of the participants according to the needs of particular accompaniment. Records in the pertinent instruments the attendance of people who attended each day, to have information on the flow of visitors. Attend trainings on Mercy Corps programs and regional outreach. Articulate with local entities the different activities that Mercy Corps develops in each of the municipalities. Guide the participants about the concerns that are generated, making the respective accompaniment and follow-up until each case is closed. It supports the promotion of referral systems for people with focused needs such as nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, and protection. Supports the monitoring of program participants. Support with the coordination of events in the assigned municipalities. Support in calling families for scheduled activities. Support in the logistics of preparation for focus group discussions and other community activities. Record life stories and success stories in a format delivered by M&E. SECURITY Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures as determined by country leadership, in particular the safety manager. Contribute to the teamโ€™s safe environment and awareness of Mercy Corps policies. BA/S or equivalent in international relations, international cooperation, humanitarian assistance, political science, or similar. 1 - 3 years of field experience in relief or development programs. Capacity building and field management experience. Successful and proven negotiation, communication and organization skills. Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment. General knowledge and understanding of humanitarian sectors and the humanitarian capacity and set up in Venezuela. Success factorsMercy Corps is looking for professionals with solid knowledge in their area, and with common sense and experience to solve atypical situations presented in the field. Likewise, Mercy Corps seeks organized, disciplined, purposeful and efficient people, oriented towards planning and meeting objectives. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. It is important to have sufficient maturity to accept the criticism and demands of the job, as well as to recognize their weaknesses and rely on the work team. It must have empathy and commitment to the eradication of those unfair conditions to which the most vulnerable people are subjected. Availability to travel and support activities in other areas of the country, if necessary.

Living Conditions / Environmental ConditionsThe position is based in Sucre, Venezuela and will require occasional travel to support country programs, which may include travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and areas where amenities are limited.
