Program Overview
WRI Indonesia seeks to assist the Government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Transportation (MoT) to enhance and mainstream innovative low-carbon development approaches to transform the transportation sector in addressing urban mobility issues in the coastal metropolitan of Indonesia that would pave the way for sustainable development and help achieve the governmentโs bold climate target ie. Net zero-emission.
WRI Indonesia under the UK Partnering for Accelerating Climate Transitions (UK PACT) will provide programmatic and technical advisory support to address the economic challenges posed by Covid-19 recovery and the increased risk of natural disasters due to climate change. The objective will be carried out through several technical assistance such as the enhancement of design to public facilities, holding events to increase public awareness of inclusive access to transportation, and to assess the resiliency of communities living in coastal areas in Metropolitan Surabaya and Makassar. The program envisions that sustainable mobility of coastal metropolitan areas should factor in elements such as safety, inclusiveness, and low carbon mode of mobility. In the end, the program will provide the city with a design of inclusive, safe, and continuous non-motorized facilities and draw its connection with low-carbon public transport mode. Lessons from the program will be utilized to inform the Ministry of Transportation about challenges and policy gaps in realizing the concept of sustainable transportation, especially in coastal cities.
General Internship Roles
The Communications Intern will be actively involved in the collaborative effort in crafting and delivering message that highlight the UK PACT projectโs impact in promoting sustainable urban mobility especially in the pilot cities: Makassar and Surabaya, this includes website management, social media management, event coordination, content creation, public relations and outreach, and administrative support. Based in Jakarta with office-flex working arrangement, the Intern will perform under the supervision of Senior Communications Coordinator, the projectโs team and other relevant personnel from the core-function team.

- Improve organizational and administrative skill: Enhanced ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
What You Will Need
- Fresh graduate or currently pursuing bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, urban planning, environmental studies, or other related fields
- Basic proficiency in website management tools and social media analytics tools
- Demonstrated interest in environmental issues, sustainable development, or urban mobility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to think critically and creatively
- Highly motivated, strong can-do attitude, proactive work style and excellent organizational skills and work-ethic
- Ability and willingness to travel to other provinces/cities in Indonesia if assigned
- Legally able to enroll on an internship program in Indonesia

Must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
Final candidates might be required to take a writing test and to produce two writing samples when needed.
