    BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

    The National Zero Hunger Strategic Review (NSR) recommendation has stimulated the necessary partnerships to achieve SDG 2, fostering coordination among the Government of Armenia, donor community, beneficiaries, United Nations agencies, civil society, private sector, and the Diaspora. WFP Armenia will pursue strategic partnerships, communication and external advocacy efforts with national and international stakeholders aiming to achieve full implementation of its five-years Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for 2026-2030.

    Recognizing the important role that social media platform, and individuals within them, play in sharing information across the globe, and based on WFPโ€™s efforts to raise visibility on the organization, WFP Armenia is to strengthen its social media presence. WFP Armenia will seek to raise awareness around all its programmatic portfolios, including transformative and Yerevan school feeding.

    The WFP Armenia office will aim to apply communication strategies that encourage followers to engage with WFP and create a sense of community that calls for individuals to join WFP in its fight against food insecurity and malnutrition globally and in Armenia. Through the daily management and production of communication activities, the Communications Associate and team will produce appeals, visual content, and success stories and engage in one-to-one communication with users. WFP uses a wide range of social media platforms and engagement strategies. The team is looking for creative, collaborative, outside-the-box thinkers, to work with the WFP team.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under the overall strategic guidance of the Country Director and the direct supervision of the Partnerships Officer (Head of Partnerships & Communications Unit), the Communications Associate will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

    1. Perform specialised communications processes and activities, to support staff in the development, preparation, execution and dissemination of campaigns for target audiences.

    2. Conduct research, suggest ideas, and provide coordination support to ensure the timely and effective delivery of video/film, photographic and radio projects. Manage the storage and distribution of audio/visual materials in accordance with relevant policies.

    3. Support and/or coordinate media coverage of events to optimise publicity of WFPโ€™s activities.

    4. Organise and execute special events, working closely with colleagues, external partners and media, to ensure events are effectively scheduled, publicised and attended.

    5. Monitor traditional and social media, and report relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communications activities and strategies.

    6. Under guidance, prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of WFPโ€™s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages in English and Armenian, and possibly in a third language to target international audiences.

    7. Distribute and promote communications guidelines for WFP staff to refer to when creating content.

    8. Manage updates and further develop internal records and databases, ensuring information is accurate, organised and available for others to access.

    9. Respond to specialised queries and requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries.

    10. Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in order to provide an aligned, coherent service, and to identify opportunities to collaborate/integrate processes and activities.

    11. Implement improvements to communications methods and practices, to contribute to a better flow of information about WFPโ€™s work to the media and stakeholders.

    12. Creation and sharing of communication materials, including, but not limited to pictures, videos, stories and digital infographics on and for WFP Armenia activities with the support of Head of Partnerships and Communications Unit.

    13. Identify engaging content which audience might be interested in and organize interviews with different target groups to develop stories and share with external stakeholders and partners.

    14. Support updating the WFP global website, as well as feeding with news and publications issued by the country office.

    15. Liaise with graphic designers and printing houses to develop and produce materials.
