Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as Communications Associate for its Development Strategies and Governance unit. This position is based in New Delhi, India and is a one-year, appointment that is renewable depending on performance and funding. The successful candidate will provide critical support to the communications specialist and research teams in developing content for dissemination and engaging in outreach activities to promote IFPRIโ€™s work in the region. The communications associate will fulfill the responsibilities shared below and any other, as directed by the communications lead. Interested applicants must be authorized to work in India.

Key responsibilities

Supporting the copyediting and publication review process for all communication and knowledge products like project notes, proceedings, reports, papers etc.

Support collation of information and content for drafting quarterly newsletters, e-mailers and event flyers. Updating social media accounts and websites with new content and implementing a detailed calendar to ensure regular digital media outreach. Drafting articles and blogs to capture events and research findings. Supporting content development and standard processes for press releases, articles, interviews and any media engagement. Supporting all activities towards the events organized by the South Asia office, as required. Documenting minutes for all project and team meetings and supporting researchers in capturing event/conference proceedings in-person or transcribing from recordings. Supporting the updating of all databases and trackers relevant to events, media and publications work in the region. Other duties as directed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelorโ€™s degree in mass communication, public relations, journalism, English, international development, or four years of relevant work experience. Excellent written and oral English communication skills with demonstrated copyediting abilities. Fluency in MS Office apps, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, and working knowledge of major social media platforms. Basic knowledge of photography, videography, and designing work for simple social media posts. Ability to convey scientific and research information to diverse audiences in an engaging and concise manner. Ability to work independently and multitask under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment across countries and timelines. Strong organizational and work management skills with attention to detail.

Physical Demand & Work environment:

Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading. Employee should have a valid passport and be willing to travel for work. Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time. Employee will lift between 0-10 pounds.
