What we are looking for:

NRC Norway is seeking a dynamic Communications Lead to spearhead our work on TV-aksjonen 2026, Norwayโ€™s largest fundraising campaign. In this high-profile role, youโ€™ll collaborate closely with the TVA Core Group, NRK, and colleagues across NRC to drive compelling communications before, during, and after the campaign and broadcast. From content and media to branding and storytelling โ€“ youโ€™ll be at the heart of inspiring engagement across the country.

NRC has been awarded the NRK Telethon for 2026 โ€“ an event that mobilizes the entire Norwegian society, from schools and local communities to businesses. Together with NRK and the TVA Foundation, weโ€™ll make this national effort a success. Communications will be key to ensuring the campaign inspires giving, showcases volunteerism, and strengthens NRCโ€™s brand. As Communications Lead, youโ€™ll play a pivotal role in making it happen.

We are seeking a candidate who is currently based in Norway and has full fluency in the Norwegian language, both written and spoken, to effectively engage with local stakeholders.

What you will do:

Here are some of your generic responsibilities:

Lead NRCs communications work on the TVA before, during and after launch of campaign and broadcast.

Lead development and implementation of NRC's communications strategy for the TVA across content gathering, social media, and campaign materials, in close collaboration with TVA communications leads on content, media and marketing.

Responsible for planning communications concept/platform with TVA team and NRC Private Fundraising, coordinating inputs by relevant colleagues across levels.ย 

Advance NRCโ€™s voice and dignified profiling of people forced to flee across all communication.ย 

Produce the Salaby/Gyldendal school project for NRC as part of a three-person team with Gylendal and TVA foundation, including contributing visual and written content, and reviewing all materials.

Ensure a media plan is put in place and contribute to pitching by the TVA press lead and NRC media advisers.

Lead on the establishment and coordination of a resource group, ensuring relevant materials are discussed with the group and inform content.ย 

Ensure communications are of high quality, on-brand, consistently reflect agreed key messaging, and adhere to established guidelines, while meeting TVA requirements.

Here are some of your specific responsibilities:

ย 

Responsible for content gathering, including mapping content needs and opportunities in project countries, planning content gathering through visits and remotely in close coordination with NRC country offices, and ensure NRC protection and ethical standards are followed.

Plan visits for the TVA and marketing firms and accompany them in the field, contributing to gathering content.ย 

Make TVA content available for versioning and adaptation by Private Fundraising and others in NRC Visuals and SharePoint to maximise engagement.ย 

Sign off on TVA content and external advertising according to NRC's ethical framework and Identity, in consultation with NRCโ€™s Director for Public Communications.

Ensure TVA communications are in line with NRC global standards for design and visual communication, ensuring consistency in logo use, accessibility, and alignment with NRC style guide, while meeting TVA requirements.ย 

Ensure coherence and coordination between the TVA content calendar and messaging and other NRC plans and content, including humanitarian emergencies in the news.

Other tasks as required by the Director for Public Communications, including to enable her participation in the TVA Core Group.

What you will bring:

At least 7 yearsโ€™ experience within communications, including content creation, editing, and media.ย 

Bachelor's degree in related field, such as journalism, PR, marketing or communications. Master's degree in relevant fields is an advantage.ย 

Experience from a leading role in content planning and production.

Documented results from developing effective communication products for digital channels.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in Norwegian and English.

Proven experience in project management, with a demonstrated ability to lead lean and effective workflows, motivate staff, set clear objectives, and drive performance to achieve results.ย

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and collaborate with colleagues at all levels, both internally and externally, to build a consistent global NRC identity.ย 

Experience using a web CMS (Optimizely), social media channels, content planning and analytics software.

Understanding of Norwegian context and the NRK Telethon.ย 

Ability to lead creative projects in diverse teams across multiple countries.ย 

Strong experience collaborating with NRC country offices on communication projects and content gathering.

Ability to prioritise and creating effective content on tight timelines.

Proficiency in using data to improve communication products.

Knowledge of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok), and the ability to craft engaging content for each platform.

Multimedia skills (such as video editing, graphic design using Adobe software, and creation of social media-specific formats like Stories, Reels, etc.)ย is an advantage.ย 

Proven understanding of fundraising communication.

Strong understanding of the Norwegian media landscape and experience from strategic media work is an advantage.ย 

What we offer:

Duty station: Oslo, Norway. ย 

Contract: 12 months. ย 

Travel: 20%.

Salary/benefits: Grade 9 on NRCโ€™s Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.ย
