ContextUN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women (GEWE), with the aim to create a world in which every woman and girl can exercise her human rights and live up to her full potential. Grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, UN Women leverages its unique triple mandateโ€”encompassing normative support, UN system coordination, and operational activitiesโ€”to mobilize urgent and sustained action to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. UN Women focuses on four strategic priorities, including governance and participation in public life; womenโ€™s economic empowerment; ending vio-ence against women and girls; and women, peace and security, humanitarian action, and disaster risk reduction. UN Women Chinaโ€™s work is aligned with the 2021-2025 United Nations Sustainable Development Co-operation Framework (UNSDCF) for China to support Chinaโ€™s development priorities in the next five years. It is also in line with Chinaโ€™s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), Chinaโ€™s National Human Rights Action Plan (2021-2025), and the Outline of Women's Development in China (2021-2030). UN Women Chinaโ€™s strategic programmatic priorities include Women's Economic Empowerment; Ending Violence Against Women; Governance and Participation in Public Life; Global Partnerships and Sustainable Financing for GEWE. UN Women Chinaโ€™s work is further enabled through partnership and resource mobilization, operations and management oversight, as well as communication and advocacy for GEWE. The year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Bei-jing+30). Adopted at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995 in Beijing, China, by 189 governments, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA) remains the most revolutionary blue-print for GEWE, addressing 12 critical areas such as education, health, political participation, economic empowerment, and the elimination of violence against women and girls. Addressing these issues, along with emerging priorities around climate justice and the power of digital technologies, is urgent, with just five years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Reporting to the Communications Specialist, the UNV is expected to provide high-quality support for the officeโ€™s communications work, in line with UN Womenโ€™s mandate, rules, regulations, and strategic priorities. In China the VLA is about 9984.06 RMB per month. The National UN Volunteer is entitled to an excellent health, life and disability insurance package.
