Plan started working in Egypt in 1981 and has a presence in ten of the 27 governorates in which the country including Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, Beheira, Kalyoubia, Damietta, Qena, Assuit and Sohag. Plan international Egypt implements programmes designed to enable communities to improve the lives of the most marginalised children and their families. Plan Egyptโs Country Strategy focuses on five strategic objectives.
Through a five-interconnected, gender transformative and context-fit country objectives, PIE intends along with the various stakeholders at all levels to continue delivering positive and transformative changes so that โChildren, especially girls, and young people grow up in an enabling environment, realizing their rights and contributing in both development and humanitarian settings as active agents of changeโ.
Purpose
The purpose of the role is to provide essential support to the Communication Manager in the development and implementation of communication strategies and initiatives aimed at promoting the organization's mission, programs, and impact within the development and humanitarian sector. Working under the supervision of the Communication Manager, the Communication Assistant plays a crucial role in executing various communication tasks, including content creation, media monitoring, social media management, event coordination, and administrative support. By assisting with day-to-day communication activities, the Communication Assistant contributes to enhancing the organization's visibility, reputation, and engagement with stakeholders, ultimately supporting its efforts to advocate for vulnerable populations, and drive positive social change.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading communication materials such as press releases, articles, blog posts, social media posts, and newsletters
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather information and updates for content development
- Monitor media coverage related to the organization's activities, programs, and key thematic areas
- Compile media clippings and prepare regular reports on media coverage for internal distribution
- Regularly provide high-resolution, good quality digital images and videos of the emergency and Plan Internationalโs work.
- Monitor print and electronic media for mentions of Plan International and other topics of interest to the organization, and inform the communication manager.
- Ensure the correct use of Plan Internationalโs identity and that or partners and donors, in respect to existing Brand guidelines.
- Ensure the quality production of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
- Facilitate managing the organization's social media platforms by scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring comments and messages
- Help create visually appealing and engaging content for social media channels
- Support the coordination of communication events, workshops, webinars, and conferences by assisting with logistics, participant registration, materials preparation, and post-event follow-up
- Provide administrative support to the Communication Manager, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing files and documents
- Ensure in maintaining communication databases, contact lists, and archives
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding across communication materials and channels
- Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and partners as needed for communication initiatives
- Conduct research on communication trends, best practices, and relevant topics to inform content development and strategy
- Assist in analysing communication metrics and data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and brand guidelines in all communication activities
- Stay informed about developments in the field of communication, including emerging trends, tools, and technologies, and participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of communication materials and outputs, paying attention to detail and adhering to established standards and guidelines
