Job description

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a programme for the prevention of violence and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It aims to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. GIZ Civil Peace Service Programme in the Palestinian Territories cooperates with local civil society partner organisations with the following objectives: (1) Promoting the psychosocial well-being of local actors and target groups so that the preconditions for constructive encounters and discourses are created. (2) Strengthening Palestinian peace actors, together with regional and international peace peace actors to engage in non-violent, peacebuilding measures. (3) Strengthening the capacities of partner organizations and other civil society actors in opening, maintaining, and shaping safe spaces for children, youth, and their caregivers, within a context of long standing and ongoing experiences of violence and progressing fragmentation of the Palestinian territories and the Palestinian society. (4) Supporting opportunities for encounter, exchange, and dialogue across and beyond geographic and social boundaries in Palestine.

Your tasks

Work closely with the programme coordinator, the CPS Team and the partner organisations on strategic and operational planning, according to the indicators and expected outcomes Conduct in close dialogue with partner organisations and CPS Team impact-oriented planning processes, including the definition of roles and responsibilities of CPS advisors Conduct in close dialogue with partner organisations and CPS Team impact-oriented monitoring processes Assure the integration of conflict sensitivity, Do No Harm principle, gender and a human rights-based approach in all CPS project measures Elaborate in close exchange with partners and the CPS Team recommendations to the programme and its partner organizations, based on the analysis of monitoring processes Support partner organizations, and the CPS Team with reporting at project level and the CPS coordination with reporting to Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Assure Knowledge Management focused on learning experiences and good practices processes among the CPS team, the CPS partnersโ€™ network in the region, CPS of GIZ, the CPS consortium and the GIZ Network International Cooperation in Conflicts and Disasters (NICD)

Your profile

Masterโ€™s degree in social or political sciences, peace and conflict studies, or any other relevant domain Several years of expertise and practical experience in the areas of peacebuilding and local conflict transformation Proven skills in the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) context and conflict analysis and in designing conflict sensitive approaches Professional experience in fragile contexts and work experience in the region Partner oriented work skills and advisory competencies Patience and high frustration tolerance are needed Proven ability to work in a multicultural team and sensitivity to questions as racism, antisemitism, colonial and historic legacies Fluency in English, solid language skills in German and Arabic would be a valuable asset

Notes

GIZ's Development Service is looking forward to applications of candidates with a professional qualification and / or university degree and at least two years of professional experience. In addition you hold the German nationality or the nationality of a member state of the European Union.

Willingness to travel on a regular basis is required.
