The Services to Older Refugees Caseworker provides trauma-informed and aging-sensitive case management services to support older refugees and other qualified immigrants in overcoming barriers such as chronic health conditions, limited English proficiency, social isolation, and unfamiliarity with U.S. systems. This position ensures that clients receive personalized, culturally responsive support focused on long-term well-being and integration. Through comprehensive assessments, individualized service planning, and intensive navigation assistance, the Caseworker empowers clients to access critical resources and achieve self-defined goals.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

โ€ข Conduct culturally and linguistically appropriate intakes for older refugee clients, assessing needs across health, housing, income, legal status, and social support.
โ€ข Develop individualized service plans with measurable goals (e.g., applying for SSI, Medicaid enrollment, naturalization). Review and update plans regularly.
โ€ข Provide direct support in accessing benefits, healthcare, housing, legal aid, and mental health resources; assist with documentation and accompany clients to appointments when needed.
โ€ข Deliver services using trauma-informed and aging-sensitive approaches that respect client pace, preferences, and dignity.
โ€ข Ensure language and communication access by using interpreters, translated materials, and plain-language tools.
โ€ข Provide transportation support through bus passes, volunteer drivers, or home visits; help clients navigate local systems.
โ€ข Conduct regular follow-ups to monitor client progress, adjusting service plans as needed; maintain accurate, detailed case notes in data systems.
โ€ข Build and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations and ethnic groups; conduct outreach to inform clients and partners of available services.
โ€ข Contribute to program compliance and reporting, including donor and internal documentation; support preparation of funding proposals when requested.
โ€ข Participate actively in team meetings, trainings, and professional development; adhere to IRC policies including safeguarding and confidentiality.
โ€ข Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Social Work or related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Work Experience:
โ€ข At least 2 years of case management experience in a social services environment.
โ€ข Experience serving vulnerable or older populations preferred.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Language Skills:
โ€ข Proficiency in English required; bilingual ability in Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French, or other refugee/immigrant languages strongly preferred.

Certificates or Licenses:
โ€ข Valid driverโ€™s license, active insurance, and reliable transportation.
โ€ข Must possess or be eligible for a fingerprint clearance card per Arizona state law.

Working Environment:
โ€ข A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and โ€˜fieldโ€™ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
โ€ข May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
โ€ข Must be able to lift 35 to 50 pounds (furniture, household supplies, and food boxes).

Compensation: (Pay Range: $20.16 - $20.16) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
